Loved this one! Hannie's crush on that singer was so funny and cute because I think we've all crushed on someone famous at that age ;D. Loved the New Year's Eve party and the whole Nannie thing as well.

The only thing I remember about this book is the fight between Karen and her friends.

Yeah, we've all had them crushes when we were younger. I do remember Karen, Hannie and Nancy getting into a fight aound New Years. They always ended up becoming friends again.

I liked that everyone stayed up until midight, though I don't know if seven year olds can stay up that late without falling asleep. I felt bad for Karen when she was worried that Nanny might leave and get married. As for the fight, I expected more.

Nannie was going to get married??? I decided to look into this title because I never heard of it before. Not an LS fan but it got my attention. Was Nannie getting married another Aunt Cecelia/Mr. Majors thing or something more possible?

I didn't crush on anyone at 7, though I do recall once asking my mom if I could marry someone just cause he was one of the very few guy friends I had, though I did develop a crush later on, closer to mal & jessi's age

Zoar, Nannie wasn't getting married but Karen assumed she was because Nannie was kissed on the cheek on New Year's day and she and Mr. English went on a couple of dates.

Thanks, Anzuhana. Nannie dating should have made it into one BSC book. It would have been more interesting (to me) than her chapter 2 introduction.

I still agree with what I said last year and this time I read the book. It was (finally) high time Nannie was more of a character (to me, anyway). She actually interacted with someone outside of the big house family and we got to hear a little about one of her friends. I will always wish Mr. Staples from "Baby-sitters' on Board" had stuck around as either a friend for Kristy and or a possible boyfriend for Nannie. I did become attached to him. If that couldn't have happened, Mr. English came across as a nice guy, too. I did think it was so sweet how Nannie reassured Karen that should she (Nannie) ever marry, Karen would definitely know about it and be in her wedding. I also really loved the idea of the big house having a New Years Eve party for anyone who didn't have other plans, that sounded very sweet and inviting. I would have enjoyed hearing more about that, maybe because it reminded me a little of the party in Claudia and the First Thanksgiving that I will always wish focused much more on the BSC families and their joint dinner. I did feel badly for Hannie but thought that storyline seemed to come out of no where. When I was 7 my crush was on my "long-time" boyfriend of maybe 2 years and running, Casey. I was crushed when my family moved the next year and Casey and I lost touch. Back to LS, I still prefer the idea of a pairing between Nancy and Bobby in terms of a Musketeer non Karen/Ricky match.

I know zoar was planning to read this book so I'll post my thoughts and she won't have to have three posts in a row. I thought it was nice that Nannie was able to meet someone and have a relationship, even if it never got serious. Mr. English sounded like a nice guy, from what we read of him. I liked the party at Watson's house. It sounded like fun and I liked the family all working together on the party prep. Random thought: Karen sure seems to have a lot of homework, in one of the chapters she is doing homework, pauses for supper, and then goes back to finishing her homework, and then a couple of other days she also does a bunch of homework.

^I haven't read this yet, Scrounge but I have been thinking a lot lately (I had just read as you know Karen's Nanny with Project Jupiter) that the KIMCC had so much homework and in depth projects. They were 7! Sometimes when Karen is sharing with us about a new school unit it does come across as though she and her classmates are much older. No wonder David Michael was not a school fan at times. Thanks for the lol and your post to break up my own, too. I am so thankful to have become a LS fan since my original post, too. I am editing this after finishing the story. I had not much memory of this story so it was "new" and that was cool. I thought the Nate Bellows parts were a bit overdone but felt so badly for Hannie when he all but ignored her at the mall. I also am guessing Nate was a teenager? Loved that Mr. Papadakis took the girls to the mall as we rarely hear from him and I liked him and how he came to the rescue in KIMCC Halloween Time with the costume making party idea. Nannie/Mr. English, I would have enjoyed reading about their date a little bit as we never do (I don't think) meet any of Nannie's bowling friends or people she knows in Stoneybrook, even those she sells candy too. I also enjoyed how Nannie spent time with Andrew, too, making party food and later playing Chutes and Ladders. Andrew has become a favorite of mine and was glad he had more book time, especially in a Big House story. I think my favorite thing about this book is the cover, so cheerful the banner , reminds me of the multi-color one on Karen's Lemonade Stand. The Christmas-y greenery is very festive, too. I noticed that behind Hannie is a moon and stars container I think of caramel popcorn? The design reminds me of Carolyn's moon and star sweatshirt which I still think sounds dibble and I think I will read that very book tonight. ETA one more time: Are those pretzels next to the bottle of cola and brownies behind Karen?

This one was so funny to me. I was basically Hannie except I never wrote anyone a fan letter. I would have chosen a TV concert over a party, too, lol.
The party was huge. Karen invited 18 people! That doesn't even include everyone else's guests. I didn't like the bit about the girls jumping around on the coat pile on the bed and then trying stuff on. That's rude. Don't go through my stuff, kid.
Watson had the kids make confetti. First of all, confetti is a horrible, pointless mess. Second, go buy some you cheap millionaire.
Karen's thought on potentially losing Nannie: So, basically who would do parenting?
They were planning a trip to Florida without Karen and Andrew, and Karen didn't even care.

Never read this one, but yes, confetti is pointless and you should definitely buy it.
Dang, Nannie wasn’t allowed to just sit around and knit, was she?
