About time someone acknowledged the fact that 13 yrs old isn't really time to be thinking about "together forever" - funny that this concept never occurred to the oh-so-strict Richard Spier.
However, I hate to burst Mr McGill's bubble about Stacey's erm... history. He seems to think Robert is the only boy Stacey's ever been interested in - you know, his advice to date other boys in order to make comparison, play the field a little bit. Uh Ed, she's had Toby, Sam, Pierre, Pete Black and others I can't remember. But you get the picture!
I enjoyed the Mexican festival subplot, Abby was awesome. Although I was disappointed to see Kristy proven correct. Man that sucks.

Wes! And she went out on the date with RJ Blaser... I think that was it, at the time of Robert and her breaking up.
I didn't like Abby that much in this book. I liked her before Kristy left, and Abby was challenging her. But I didn't like how she actually organised the Mexican festival... I do like Kristy's ways better.

I enjoyed how Ann's letter to the reader for this book had NOTHING to do with the plot, it was just a generic "I love New York" that could have applied to any number of Stacey books where she visited her father. It was as if she had to be coerced into having this book written for her series, but refused to actually acknowledge it.

A lot of Ann M.'s letters to the reader are like that. It's always "back when I was a kid..." and "me and my friends enjoy museums" and "all my editors have had the initials B.B." I don't know why she thought kids would care about that stuff. I want to read her thoughts on the characters and plots. I really don't care about her social life.

^ it was like she lost interest in the BSC. The books were ALL ghostwritten by the time this one came along and so the plots and characters didn't seem to mean anything to her. Very sad. I wish she'd been more involved with the series as she was a talented writer.

I also wish she'd been more involved later in the series. It's too bad she didn't at least write a few books a year and let the ghostwriters handle the rest.

And she went out on the date with RJ Blaser... I think that was it, at the time of Robert and her breaking up. She went on the date with RJ Blaser in Stacey and the Cheerleaders, where she met Robert. She actually met Robert ON her date with RJ. Personally, my favorite Stacey boyfriend is Ethan.

In the middle of this one, and wondering what was with Robert and Pete watching a "romantic Julie Talbert" movie at the mall. Unless Robert did see it with Andi and Pete was a cover, it was still a movie Stacey thought they were going to see together, and his excuse was kind of a shabby one.
I liked Abby's out-talking Kristy at the meeting where she's discussing improvements for the club but the way she handed the poster-decorating with the kids was awful. Looking forward to when they actually hold the festival and what kind of chaos will ensue...

I didn't like Abby that much in this book. I liked her before Kristy left, and Abby was challenging her. But I didn't like how she actually organised the Mexican festival... I do like Kristy's ways better. I got such a laugh out of Abby in her trial role as President when she gave Mallory the exaggerated "look". I wonder if Kristy realized how foolish she seemed with some of her little President things like the visor and look but I don't think she did. I do like Kristy's organization strategies better, though, too and can't fault her too much for these or her business sense. It's just her "dictator" appearance (or attempt at it) at the meetings that is annoying. As for the main plot of this book, didn't really care much about it. Never been a big Stacey-Robert fan and was surprised to find myself not minding Ethan. Usually, I wouldn't like a guy like him who had an earring and wore the type of clothes described. Maybe he just seems to fit Stacey.

ITA. This is the only reason I enjoyed the Abby's brief presidential role in this book. About time someone snarked Kristy's little dictator role.

Oh, yeah, the snark was awesome! And how Kristy was silently fuming at the trial meeting that Abby ran... heh heh.

^ Seriously, I can't believe it took them so long to give Kristy even a slight smackdown. Giving Jessi Looks for being late because of traffic after ballet class? Someone needed to put Ms Kristin Amanda in her place.

does anyone else think that stacey let robert and andi off WAY too easily? i'd be seriously pissed if i were her. robert could have at least had the balls to break it off with stacey before running around town kissing andi.

Yeah, but I think that if you had given Stacey 2 more weeks or so in the city, she would have made out with Ethan. She is boy-crazy, after all.
