First thing. I was surprised to see the word "farted" in a BSC book. Sure, it's a natural bodily function, but normally those BSC books are the epitome of prim and proper-ness. Granted the word was only featured as part of a silly kid song.
Second thing. Why do the kids all have food on the cover when it's specifically stated in the book that they weren't allowed to have food at the carnival. Stupid and unrealistic, BTW. I can't imagine many kids accepting that for long.
Third point. Why would such a huge range of kids, from ages nine down to two be happy to all hang out together for the day?
Fourth point. With what little I know about adoption, maybe I'm not qualified to comment. But I'd be pretty certain there's a lot more to it than coming home from a carnival and your mum announcing that some strange Vietnamese toddler is arriving as your new little sister tomorrow as if it's no more extreme and life-changing than if the family were heading to the shelter to get a new dog or something.
Also, how happy would Elizabeth and Watson be, arriving home with their new daughter, hopefully planning to spending some quality time getting her acquainted with the family, only to find the daughters five best friends all hanging around? I dunno, that just seemed wrong to me.

aw I kinda liked this book. I liked the scene at the park when they're all squirting each other with water and stuff. I thought it was a cute idea for the BSC to take all the kids and give the mom's a break.

Emily Michelle THOMAS Brewer. Thomas as in Patrick Thomas. As in Elizabeth's ex-husband's last name. Huh? I guess though that the Charlie, Sam and Kristy had Thomas as the last name and that Emily having it too would provide some continuity.
I liked how the dad's did things for the moms. Especially liked Mr. Kishi helping out. It made me think of him a bit differently. And Mr. Pike helping Mrs. Barrett was it? That was great.

But what would this forum be without the snark? ;D Total, total word. It was obviously typical BSC ultra-PCness, but carrying on the name of your deadbeat ex who has absolutely nothing to do with the child is freakin' stupid. I don't understand why all the new babies had to have the hyphenated surnames. Dawn and Jeff were simply Schafers, why did Carol's kid have to be Schafer-Olson?

Ughh these girls and all the activities and camps and crap that they plan for the neighborhood kids! I can not imagine volunteering to take a bunch of random kids to a carnival for the day so that their mothers can have time to themselves. I mean, ok, it was nice of them and everything, but seriously?? Who would ever do that?
I thought it was weird that the entire club hung around for Emily Michelle's arrival, too. And nobody thought it was strange that Watson and Elizabeth announced the adoption the day before they got her? No freaking way!

I mean, ok, it was nice of them and everything, but seriously?? Who would ever do that? Not to mention paying all the expenses and whatnot. I guess they were a real little 'village-like' community in Stoneybrook though. And those BSC girls truly did love children and babysitting, even if their dedication to it was somewhat creepy. Yeah, it was no more major than if they'd been getting a hamster or something.

Agreed to all the stuff about Emily Michelle! And about how strangely dedicated the BSC is to the community.
I liked how they brought Stacey back for this book; I thought that was a nice touch. And I thought Shea Rodowsky was really cute in this, hehe. But Karen annoyed me.

^ word on Shea Rodowsky! That's one good natured little kid.
I didn't mind Andrew in this book, he was the only one who actually asked the relevant questions in regards to the adoption. The rest of them just bounced around excitedly, like - as I said before - Watson had told them they'd be getting a new puppy.

Maybe they didn't realise the significance ofa brand new baby?

Oh yeah, I loved how Stacey got to come back in this book. When she moved to New York, I loved any book that involved a visit from her, or a visit to go see her.

It was nice seeing Stacey come back for a while . Word on the adoption thing though. "Oh, by the way, you're getting a new sister tomorrow yay!!" would never work in the real world. I liked this book, although it was unrealistic - most of them are and it has never stopped me from liking them

^ you've got a point there I guess the adoption thing was just TOO outrageous for some people, though.

As for the Stacey thing, I would have liked it if she would have stayed gone. Then it would be a real treat every time she comes back. And about the dedication to the community, I think that Kristy organized this in order to keep the good relations with her clients going. I think it was a business move.
