Just reread this one and loved it. I always get it confused with the book where Boo Boo dies and they get Pumpkin but that is Karen's Black Cat. In this one, a stray "Growly" has kittens in their garage or shed (can't remember which now) and Karen has to find homes for them. This book made me really want to chose a kitten this year when one of the cats has one (I'm sure we'll have at least one or two litters of barn cats but don't know how many will actually survive) even though I don't even like cats I used to like them a little more, though, (before I was so allergic) and this book reminded me of how I was like Karen and made birth announcements for one litter. I also designed a "kitty city" out of bricks (which were covered in poison ivy - luckily I didn't get it . Even though I'm not a big fan of animal books (they are my least favorites in the regular series) I really liked this one. I need some of Karen's enthusiasm right now and reading about her always reminds me of when I was a happy little kid

I loooved this book, since I adored cats and kittens as a kid (and still do). I really liked the birth announcement and that kitten party she held so neighbors could come and look at them. Their names were pretty cute too. Didn't Natalie Springer want one but her mother told her no? That was sad

Forgot my very favorite part of this book is when Watson wears the big oven mitts to pick up the cat. Wish there would have been a better picture of this - one of my favorite BSC or LS moments, I think Yes, Natalie had Karen bring a kitten to her house because her mom had said she could get a pet. But she hadn't really asked and her mom said that she could only have a pet like a turtle or something and Karen had to take the kitten home. This was sad. I loved the kitten party, though, and how Nancy's parents surprised her with a kitten.

I don't really remember this book because it's been so long since I read it. But I just got a "new" (used) copy of it today! Yayness. It's one of the LS books that I do own but had misplaced. So now I only need two more of my misplaced LS books, and five that I've never owned at all.

I always thought the kittens were SO cute. I wish Natalie's parents would have let her have "Ruby." If ever a little girl needed a kitty, it was the poor kid with no friends!

I don't remember much of this book, other than it wasn't on my list of favorites. I did feel bad for Natalie though when her mom told her she couldn't have one of the kittens, it was so sad, I always have a soft spot for Natalie.

I really wish that in this book, they would have tried to find a home for Growly or at least get her spayed. Unless she gets hit by a car sometime soon, she'll probably have another litter, and will there be another seven-year old eager to find homes for each one? Maybe it just doesn't seem appropriate for a kid's book, but having her run off to live on the streets again doesn't seem all that kid friendly either.

^ I won't even mention my suggestion for Growly. ;D From what I understand, Growly was wild and uncatchable. I would never pay to get a cat like that spayed and how could they even catch her to give her away (she'd probably just run away anyway) or take her to get spayed. I know living on a farm makes my attitude towards animals much different than most pet people, though.

I remember this one...the kittens all sounded so cute. Especially Ruby, with the diamond on her forehead. Aww.

^ I think Ruby was my favorite too. ;D Agree about the kittens sounding cute. It always makes me want to go out and pet our cats in the barn. We haven't had any kittens for a while, though.

^ They are. I wanted one of Watson with the oven mitts on, though. ;D That always makes me laugh.

^ I love all the pets named "Bob" in the books (and there seem to be a lot of them) because a few years ago, I rode a pony named "Bob" and the name always made me laugh for an animal. Especially when people thought "I was out with Bob" meant I was out with a guy instead of in the barn with the pony. ;D
