Not one of my favorite Christmas books. Each chapter was a little repetitive. I liked seeing Karen's progress on her naughty/nice chart. Funny how she thought she was so bad that she had to add more paper to make the chart go lower.
This made me remember the lame Christmas programs my school had every year. Some of those songs are still burned into my brain. I have to wonder if Karen's class sang Rudolph more than once, cause it's not a long song and they really went all out for it. The costumes on the cover look pretty detailed, they were going to make poor Hannie fly on a pulley, and Ms. Coleman was going to bring in a fog machine!

Hmm, I read it but I don't remember much of it. All I know is that was my least favorite LS Christmas book .

I just read this one and overall didn't think much of it either way, but Charlie was so nice to Karen in this one. He seemed like a really good big brother.

This is my least favorite holiday LS story.

Charlie was nice in the book. I assume he was the one who stuck the note from Santa in Karen's stocking.
I didn't like Elizabeth in the short amount she was in this one. She was fine with Emily standing on a stool splashing around a sink full of water (unsupervised too) and scolded Karen for trying to stop Em from doing it.

I remember this book. I thought the costumes Karen and her friends wore were very creative.

I agree that Charlie was a nice step brother. Karen was lucky. I think that Elizabeth can be a little too harsh with Karen. I also don't understand how she could make a fuss at Karen when she was trying to stop Emily.

Charlie was awesome in this one, what a nice big brother. I thought it was hilarious how Karen thinks the reindeer is a SPY sent by Santa to report back to him on her naughtiness. LOL

^I thought that was funny too about the reindeer spy. I just re read this one yesterday because one, it is Christmas and two, I didn't remember much about this book. What stood out to me the most was how sweet Charlie was to Karen. I think their are a lot of instances that Charlie is really sweet and protecting of Karen.
I also have to agree, I didn't get why Elizabeth was mad at Karen for trying to stop Emily from making a mess with water, especially after Karen just cleaned the sink. I would be mildly irritated as well.

I'm not surprised that Karen ended up being Rudolph in the end. I loved Karen's chart and how it went down to her being horrible and past that. I agree with what everyone posting about Charlie being sweet to Karen.

Charlie was great in this one. I liked that he even told Karen he believed her about the reindeer.
...So were we actually supposed to believe, though, that there was an actual reindeer running around Stoneybrook and Karen was the only one who could see it? I know she's got a vivid imagination, but it really doesn't seem likely that she'd mistake a deer for a reindeer when she'd gotten a really good look at the animal on several different occasions. If it actually is a reindeer, though, basically our options are: 1) it is indeed one of Santa's magical flying reindeer, 2) it is a woodland caribou that got really, really lost, or 3) someone is letting animals out of their cages at the Bedford Zoo again.

Wanderingfrog thank you for the laugh and smile. I love your three options. And Maddie, I love that you answered. I agree with everyone who posted that this was not my favorite (by far) LS Holiday book either. I was not a fan at all of the naughty/nice chart and IIRC in Christmas Chiller Kristy said that she didn't believe Santa was a judge that way or that that was right or something to that effect. Charlie was such an awesome Secret Santa, what a great big brother.

I wonder how well Karen really cleaned the bathroom. It still annoyed me that Elizabeth was fine with Emily splashing around in the sink. I hope someday Emily would flood the house.
I always enjoy reading the bad program ideas the kids have:
Sara, teach the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa.
Pamela, dress up like High-style Brittany (her fashion doll). Have all of the other girls dress up like Sandy, Brittany's personal assistant. All of the boys would sit and watch. Lol.
Bobby, Toy Wars skit. It's kind of long. "We will dress up like Power Morphers and pretend the evil Dr. Maligno has taken over the North Pole, trapped all the elves, and turned Santa's workshop into an Ice Fortress. We could have a huge battle, with snow cannons and exploding ice and --" He's interrupted. At least it sounds high energy and not boring.
Ricky, mini Winter Olympics. A bobsled run down the center aisle of the school auditorium.
Natalie, act out the manger scene in which the Three Wise Men come to see the baby Jesus.
Nancy, something to honor Hanukkah. She wanted nine kids to dress up like candles.
Karen, literally screamed out "Rudolph!" Ricky turned that into singing and acting out the song.
I liked the random bit about Karen hating Charlie's Knicks ornament because their team colors weren't Christmasy. I prefer funny, random ornaments that are personal like that.

I was surprised when Granny Packett didn't ask Seth or Lisa if it was okay for her to give them bunnies. She knows they have enough pets already. It's cruel to give them a pet and then having to take them away again. Just like the puppy.
Karen does my head in sometimes. She always needs get involved in everybody's business. Take Andrew's class project for example. She butted in where she didn't belong and she wanted to take credit for getting the donated goods. Sheesh. It was Andrew's project not hers. Then she got involved in his play. She was more of a hindrance then a help in both instances.
She's such a know it all too. Just because she's done something once she thinks she knows everything. Little Miss Know-It-All.
