I really liked this book. It sort of reminded me of the book 'Prom date' and was pretty creepy. *What with someone dying in a stampeed in the gym at the last 'Mischeifs dance' and taking a glimpse into a teachers past (michael rothman) The scary dummy. *And the culprit- 2 cans short from a 6 pack- turning up at the dance and scaring the living daylights out of everyone. *Stacey genuinely having a laugh with Cokie and Grace in the girls toilets. Though admittedly, Grace and Stacey were friends. Finally: @ Claudia's description of her crush Roger (?) Casey (?) with the exception of the lasor blue eyes, She practically described Logan. I wonder if this was by accident or not.

I also thought this one was pretty creepy and cool.
Stacey mentions that everyone at the dance was supposed to be wearing masks with their costumes and then reveal themselves at the end of the night. Claudia went as a giant twinkie. What the heck kind of mask did she wear? Same for Kristy, she was wearing aviator glasses. And Abby as Lucy Ricardo, etc.
Heh, that Roger/Logan connection is so true. I forgot if Logan was at the table when she was describing him.

The girl I bought this book from told me it was the worst BSC book ever. I was kind of embarrassed to tell her I actually liked it.
I liked how Grace became sort-of friends with another BSC member. Just the same, I liked how, as soon as she and Cokie reconciled, she stabbed Stacey in the back. Really, what did Stacey expect?

I dunno. I sort of expected something more from Elizabeth's surprise appearance at the dance. Like she would have tried to hurt Michael or something. I mean, she just laughed. C'mon.

This, along with "Kristy and the Cat Burglar," get my votes for the most borderline disturbing books in the series. They involved ACTUAL psychos, instead of just random kids leaving notes and scaring everyone.

It would have given me more of the creeps had it not ripped off Carrie so much.

I think that it gave me the creeps because it did remind me of Carrie. I am still having nightmares from that movie and I watched it about 10 years ago! Not a fan of scary movies so the scary BSC books are about the most I can take. This one is one of my favorite creepy ones, though. I also got freaked out by Claudia and the Lighthouse Ghost because I was reading it when on vacation last year and then went outside at the campground, alone and in the pitch black, right in the middle of the book. Needless to say, I carried a flashlight after that experience.

Liz Conner? Whoa. she was freaky. This book reminded me way to much of horror movies. I have to admit though, i had no idea who the vandal was until the very end of the book when someone spilled something on the skirt... i was kind of disappointed at the end though, when they just had a BSC meeting explaining everything.. oh well.
Was this the first book that the Mischeif Knights appeared in? I remember them saying how it couldn't have been the MK that did the stuff to the dolls, because they never VANDALISED anything, but then they go on to say that they TP'd the school, and stuff. Um, is that not vandalisim?? Because I keep thinking back to that one 7th Heaven episode when Mary and her basketball friends get arrested for toiletpapering the school gym.
However, I did like the friendship between Stacey and Grace. It's too bad Grace went back to being BFF with Cokie. It would've been interesting if Stacey and Grace would've have maintained their friendship throughout the series.
Wasn't this also the one when all the kids in Stoneybrook are obsessed with the movie, Ghost Busers, and make all these ghost busting traps? haha. I really liked that subplot.... especially the part when Claudia baby-sits the Arnolds and they find an owl(?) in their attic. Although, I was impressed when Claudia decided to wait until the paretns came home to call animal control, instead of pulling a supersitter, and getting rid of the owl herself, which seems like a very BSC thing to do.

^ I think the Knights were in Middle School Vandal but can't remember which came first. This was the one with the Ghost Busting subplot. It was pretty cute. Had forgotten about Claud and the owl. This is one of my favorite mysteries and still scares me ;D I always read it around Halloween time. Not sure how they could have ended it better with it being a BSC book invovling a psycho.

^ I loved the ending too! It had one of the more believable endings to me and was still dramatic.

This book was one of the most disturbing of the Mystery books (that and Lighthouse Ghost both made me shiver)... I found them almost too sinister for BSC books, in comparison with the more light hearted The Mystery at Claudia's House.

^ Agree. This one and Lighthouse Ghost still scare me Of course, I love them just as much as Mystery at Claudia's House, Kristy and the Missing Child and MA and the Secret in the Attic - just for different reasons. This one reminded me of a tv show episode or a movie I watched around the time it came out but I can't remember what it was. I'm thinking one of the Halloween episodes of My So Called Life (which I just caught as a rerun) Or maybe I was especially freaked after reading this book because I had just watched the movie Carrie so anything to do with sabotaged school dances.... ;D
