Wow. This was boring. Are the Stoneybrook police complete morons? A group of teenage girls has to solve an art theft? I did like how Claudia swiped Mr. Snipes resume off his desk. I just think it's ridiculous how guilty she felt for doing it. One thing I don't understand, why didn't the janitor just take the freakin' coins out of the museum in the week following the freakin' theft? He the janitor. He works alone much of the time and has access to backrooms and back entrances and such. He must've had plenty of opportunity to just put them in his pocket and walk out. Did security frisk everynight before he went home? And what's with hiding the coins in a sculpture? there was nowhere else in, say, the janiorial closet or a back store room in some nook or cranny where the police had already searched to stash them?

I agree with all of the above! Gah!! This book was so boring!! And stupid!! And too much like... a lot of other mysteries. I do love the moment of Stacey and Claudia going to the museum feeling all sophisticated and stuff. Haha

Claud thought the scultpure Daphne might be fake because it felt different than when she felt it in NYC. Come to find out the stolen coins were hidden inside it.

This is only very tangentially related, but I'm taking a class on museum management right now, and part of our final project is to work with a small group to design a fictional exhibit, and to write mock-ups of all the behind-the-scenes stuff--volunteer coordination and fundraising budgets and troubleshooting, and then to write up "what happened," like if we met our attendance goals for the exhibit and publicity and stuff. Anyway, this one girl in my group is really into the idea that part of our scenario should be that one of the museum volunteers should try to steal a piece of jewelry from the museum and I was like, "Oh my God, I'm going to be writing a freakin' BSC mystery for this class."

No one has mentioned the Claire Pike subplot, which was one of the cutest things in the book. It was when she gets her "professional superstar video" done at the mall, with her in front of a Wizard of Oz set dressed as Dorothy singing 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow.' The BSC were surprised that Claire could sing really well and then Claire forces everyone to keep watching it for weeks, which annoys the hell out of the Pikes ;D

I should be getting this book in the mail soon and now I can't wait to read it for the Claire subplot. That sounds so cute. I remember liking the main plot pretty well the first time I read it so I will let you know what I think. Now I have something more to look forward too (much needed after my bad week

That was her talent for the Little Miss Stoneybrook pageant in #15. Dawn even said that while Margo couldn't carry a tune (hence the banana), Claire actually could.

Another inconsistancy. I'll have to read the book as soon as I get it. I can just imagine Claire as a "big star". She seems like such a ham, much more than Margo or Vanessa. Maybe it's because she's the baby of the family so is used to getting more attention. Maybe that is also why Mallory as the oldest seems to have the lowest self esteem.

I def agree with you about Claire, aln. She seems like she'd thrive in the spotlight, she's a total attention-sleeper, I mean she runs around nude for goodness sake! I read this one recently, but overall it was incredibly boring and I couldn't even think of anything to add to the discussion!

Now I have something more to look forward too (much needed after my bad week I've been trying to remember for a while which subplot this book was in! I like Claire a lot, but there really could have come a point where the Pikes said they'd had enough. So she'll throw a fit. She's five! She'll get over it soon enough.

And then Jessi has to go and ruin it all by telling Claire how horrible it is to be famous...

Ha ha I did like it, though, how Claire climbed into Jessi's lap for their "chat". She is so huggable. I just reread this one and found the main plot okay but did enjoy the subplot as Claire was especially cute.
