Is this the one where Dawn is sitting for a family that is fueding about how to divide up the estate of their dead father? I totally caught on that to the whole portrait thing. I can't remember much else, I've read so much since I've read this book.

it's available for download on the ebooks community, so i just read it. i actually liked it. there are some cute moments--like where jenny gives dawn her "monkey matthew" doll and jamie newton asks dawn to marry him. but at the end dawn says:
why was this never mentioned? i would have liked to see some watson/jack interaction!

^ That would definitely be interesting. I never thought of it but I wonder how they would get along. Thinking of this, was there any interaction between any of the other dads? (other than Jack and Richard) Wonder what Richard thought of Patrick.....

Yes, I noticed that bit at the end too and wished it could have been mentioned again!

So, this book is über weird. I just read the part where Richard is chatting up with the lawyer who is working on the Livingston Estate case and I kind of want to scream at Ellen Miles and ask her why she did her research on how lawyers behave by watching LA Law repeats. I mean, there is just so much that is wrong here.
Also, there's been another John spotting. The butler slash son's fake name is "John Irving". Nice one AMM. I hope that was a deliberate shout out. I also love how John Irving the butler turns into Patrick Livingston, the heir to a fortune.

This is the first mystery I ever read. It's probably also one of my favorites of the mysteries.

I want to be so rich that I can have a guest house that's a miniature version of my giant home.
Not really, but it's the kind of frivolous thing I like.

^Their house did sound huge. There was an East Wing and a West Wing.

I just watched Beauty and the Beast again recently, and now I'm thinking of the Beast yelling that the West Wing is forbidden. :-D

I found this one at a used book store recently, and I actually liked it a lot. I was totally convinced that the old guy wasn't actually dead, but was hiding and spying on the girls.
