50 Dawns Big Date
Today for example she was wearing maroon leggings and ballet slippers under an oversized yellow shirt. Around her waist she wore this great belt that she made herself from three thin strips of leather tied together and decorated with ceramic beads. for the final touch, Claudia had swept her hair over to one side and tied it up with another thin leather strip that had the same kind of beads on it.
Claudia had tied her hair up in a high ponytail with this silver netting around it. She was wearing wide black pants and a top with a silver moon appliqued on the front.
Stacey wore a form-fitting purple dress and pink tights with black stripes.
I was dressed for comfort, in black leggings and a big blue top lined with fleece.
Her hair was long and blonde like mine. But it was super wavy. Probably permed. She wore a light blue unitard that reached just below her calves. Over the unitard was a very short (the caption said “bolero- style”) faded blue denim jacket with all sorts of clunky pins on the top pockets. Her face was made up a little more heavily than some of the other models in the magazine. She seemed to have on more eye makeup.
Here's the outfit: black ballet slippers; black lace capri leggings; a short metallic silver skirt with all this crinoliny stuff underneath that made it poof out; a stretchy, tight, black-and-white-striped top with long sleeves. I'd bought six rubber bangle bracelets, and a new pair of feather earrings that reached down to my shoulder. (I wore both earrings in the two holes in my right ear. I put a pair of small black hoops in the two holes on the left.) This time I didn't set my hair; I piled it on top of my head, then made six braids.
She was already dressed in a nice flowered dress. Earlier I’d fixed her hair in a French braid. (It was a little too short for a braid, but with bobby pins, gel, and a bow at the bottom, I made it look nice.) She wore a little blush, some mascara, and lip gloss.
She threw a denim skirt and a black turtleneck on my bed. Working quickly, I applied blush, mascara, and lots of navy blue eyeliner. The final touch was the hot pink lipstick I’d bought at the drugstore that afternoon.I jazzed up the outfit with a pair of black textured stockings I’d bought at Zingy’s and a pair of short black boots I already owned. My skirt needed to be shorter, so I rolled it up two inches and untucked the black turtle-neck.
51 Stacey's Ex-Best Friend:
a purple shirtwaist top over flowered leggings, my cowboy boots...a purple hair ornament made from shoelaces, and long dangly silver earrings.
She was hard to miss, considering she was wearing a jean coat with a fur collar (I sincerely hoped the fur was fake), black capri pants edged with lace, very chic black ankle boots, and on her head, a brilliant red oversized beret.
Laine was dressed in black from head to toe. Black leotard, long black jacket, black leggings over black stockings, black shoes. Her jewelry was silver, though.
I was wearing red leggings, red ankle boots, a bulky red sweater and red barrettes.
52 Mary Anne + 2 many babies:
A typical Claudia outfit might include a sequined shirt, stirrup pants (maybe black), low black boots, dangly turquoise earrings, and ribbons woven through tiny braids in her hair. And she wouldn't forget sparkly nail polish.
53 Kristy for President:
Today, for instance, Claudia was wearing lime green bicycle shorts, a long, long bright pink shirt, and a cropped lime green striped shirt over that. She was also wearing black hightop leather sneakers with pink butterfly barrettes clipped to the laces. She had two feather earrings in one ear (lime green, of course), and a tiny pink heart in the other.
Stacey, staring into space, fiddling with one of her earrings (a small silver replica of the Eiffel Tower).
Like that Monday, she was wearing a black skirt and tights that were two colors: one leg was red and the other was black. And her shoes were shiny black and laced up to the ankles. She was also wearing this enormous black turtleneck sweater with red flecks in it, and one round red earring and one square black one. Her hair, which was in a mid-perm stage around her face, was pulled back with this silver lamé band.
Standing next to each other, Claudia and Janine couldn't have looked more different, even though that day Claudia was dressed fairly conservatively: white jeans, red shoes with big bows, a tropical jungle shirt with each button shaped like a piece of fruit, and her hair pulled to one side with a banana barrette. But Janine, with her short hair and bangs, her pullover sweater, and plain skirt and loafers, make Claudia look extremely exotic.
[Kristy]an enormous sweater of a sort of creamy brown, with little black and green stripes running across it with black pants and loafers.
[Grace]Her makeup was about three feet thick, and she was wearing a pale blue sweater, matching stirrup pants, and a ton of jewelry.
Lucy was wearing lavender overalls with pink stars on them, a pink shirt, pink socks, and little purple sneakers with shoelaces that had stars and moons on them.
Stacey had pulled her hair back into a braid with a silver hat pin stuck through it. She was wearing purple capri pants, soft black flat ankle boots, black-and-white-striped socks, and a black-and-white-checked shirt, only the checks were all different sizes. She had square silver earrings in her ears.
Claud's hair was down, but she was wearing a hat. On the green hat ribbon was pinned "Kristy+" button. Her tights were orange and her dress was tie-dyed every color you could think of. She was wearing her feather earrings, and she'd drawn a star on her face next to her right eye.
54 Mallory and the dream horse:
Lauren Kendall was tall and slender, with straight dark hair that she wore pulled back in a silver barrette at the neck. You could tell she spent a lot of time in the sun because her face was deeply tanned, with little smile lines around her sparkling green eyes. In her English riding togs--black boots, tan pants, white blouse, and fitted green jacket--Lauren Kendall looked like she had just stepped off the cover of Horse and Rider magazine.
At first I thought I'd go wild, like Claudia, with tie-dyed tights and a bright purple oversized T-shirt knotted at the bottom, and maybe a big red belt. But then I decided since I didn't know the kids well I really should dress more conservatively...I was wearing a gold-and-brown kilt, a matching gold cotton sweater, and penny loafers.
55 Jessi's Gold Medal:
At this meeting, for example, she was wearing these sharply creased, pastel-green, cuffed shorts; a wild Hawaiian shirt tied at her waist, with vibrant colors that perfectly picked up the green; and sandals with crisscrossing ankle staps to her knees. Her hair was swept to one side and held in place with a long, fake-flowered barrette that looked like a Hawaiian lei.
She was wearing electric-pink track shorts with a turquoise racing stripe, a matching top with cut-off sleves, brand new high top sneakers with no socks, and floral print suspenders! Her hair was pulled up on top of her head and held in place with a silver barrette in the shape of the Olympic symbol.
56 Keep Out, Claudia!
As I did, I caught sight of my black leggings and high-topped sneakers, my fringed blue-jean vest and beaded Indian belt, my six silver rings and …
57 Dawn Saves the Planet:
Of all of us, I'd say Stacey is the coolest dresser. Today she was wearing floral leggings, a pink shirt with big sleeves, and a long vest covered in antique pins. A black fedora with a red cloth rose was perched on top of her shoulder length hair.
58 Stacey's Choice:
But Claud and I have the exact same taste in clothes and fashion, and very similar interests. We are both sophisticated and trendy. I know I sound like I'm bragging, but everyone says this about us. We keep track of the new styles, and we wear tights and boots, baggy tops, and big jewelry. Claud likes hats, and often wears one, and we experiment with makeup and accessories. We experiment with our hair, too, especially Claudia.
a hot pink (fake) silk jacket which fell to my knees, new black leggings,pink-and-black socks, and a black body suit. I planned to wear the outfit with black flats, and to dress it up with some jewelry and maybe a couple of barrettes in my hair.
59: Mallory hates boys (and gym):
Claudia was wearing a pair of soft, balloony purple pants; a neon green long-sleeve leotard top; a wide red-braided belt; and a pair of soft red ballet slippers shoes. Her hair was swept into a French braid with wispy tendrils hanging loose. From one ear dangled a long earring made up of small papier mache tropical fruit. in the other ear, (where she had two holes) Claudia wore two small papier mache hoops.
For example, today she was wearing black stirrup pants, a long, fleecy red-and-pink rose-print top and black high-top sneakers.
60 Mary Annes makeover:
For instance, that day I was wearing teal-colored stirrup pants and a bulky ski sweater with a colorful snowflake print, over a pink turtleneck.
She can put together the oddest collection of clothes--a slouch hat, a sequined vest, an oversized button-down shirt, stirrup pants, and lace-up boots--and she looks stunning.
some stockings and a pair of shoes to go with it [the dress]; an oversized, indigo cable-knit sweater; and a pair of floral paisley print Lycra leggings with a French terry top.
(The dance:) Kristy in a long dress and heels. Claudia: a lamé outfit that was all sharp angles and flashy colors.. Stacey: a slinky silk gown that belonged to her her mother. Dawn: a dress made of black velvet, with a sheer bodice trimmed with beading and lace, and a flared, above-knee skirt.
61 Jessi and the Awful Secret:
For example, today she was wearing a neon green tank top under a white oversized man's shirt and fuschia pink stirrup pants. The shirt was rolled at the sleeves and belted with a colorful woven belt. Claud finished the outfit with dangly ceramic-bead earrings she'd made herself in pottery class.
62 Kristy and the Worst Kid Ever:
Today she was wearing purple-and-white-striped tights, Doc Martins (except she'd taken them off to sit on the bed), a short black ruffly skirt that looked like it was part of a women's figure-skater's costume, a purple cropped sweater with silver button covers on the back buttons, and a scrunchy black velvet hat decorated with purple and red velvet flowers.
She was wearing silver capri pants, an oversized shirt with a green belt, a green checked short skirt, and gold leaf-shaped earrings.
63 Claudia’s freind friend
[Stacey] Black jeans, yellow silk shirt with black buttons and black Doc Martens.
64 Dawn's family feud
black overalls that she had splattered with pink and green and yellow globs of paint. Her purple high top tennis shoes matched her purple long sleeve T-shirt. Claud has beautiful black shining hair that she fixed in a French braid. On top of her head perched a little white painter’s cap that she’d also splattered with paint.
65 Stacey's Big Crush:
Then I thought of something extremely important. My clothes. I had gone to class wearing an oldish pair of stretch pants and an oversized turquoise men's shirt. Not awful, but not spectacular. There was no way I'd make that mistake the next day.
I rifled through my closet. One by one, I looked at my best outfits.
Long red gown? Too dressy. Stone-washed jeans (with a knit top)? Too casual. Paisley-print stirrup pants? Too faded.
I started the process at 4:35. By 5:05, I found myself staring at a short, rayon challis tank dress my mom had ordered for me. It was navy with white polka dots. The fitted top tapered down to a flared skirt, with white buttons down the front. It was feminine, yet comfortable-looking. Absolutely perfect.
It was a calf-length silk/cotton dress with pastel floral print, a scoop neck, and a shirred skirt that was slit to above the knee on one side.
Jessi looked sensational, in an indigo blue unitard with a matching open-mesh oversized cardigan.
68 Jessi and the Bad Babysitter:
For example, today she was wearing an oversized white shirt under a black vest covered with a design of shiny beads. (She sewed the beads on it herself.) She wore neon green leggings and black ballet slippers (one which she'd sewn a matching bead design). From one of her pierced ears hung a dangling earring made from the same beads and on the other ear she wore a small green hoop earring.
Claudia wore hot pink stirrup pants and a fuzzy pink sweater that made a nice contrast with her neon green pads and helmet. Stacey looked cool as always in jeans and a short brown leather jacket. Her helmet was black with silver streaks.
70 Stacey and the Cheerleaders
new plum-colored corduroy pants and white down jacket.
(Claudia) baggy wool men's pants, gathered at the waist by a black leather band; a white tuxedo shirt with rolled-up sleeves; Capezio-type flats with mismatched white and black socks; and a glittery bow-tie barrette in her hair.
(Stacey) black and white plaid unitard with a tankstyle top, covered with a black, oversized cotton knit jersey.
(Claudia)a sequined vest over a man's white shirt and bell-bottomed spandex pants.
(Stacey) pair of new jeans with a brand-new white cotton cardigan with gorgeous floral embroidery and a scalloped, crocheted neckline; flat-bottomed suede ankle boots
71. Claudia and the perfect boy:
You'd be amazed by the colors that go together. Take pink and gold. You might not think to wear pink socks with gold stretch pants, and then add a gold turtleneck under a pink sweater. But that's what I did yesterday, and then I added blue jewelry.
I'd settled on a long white shirt under a green tapestry vest, green corduroy pants, and low boots.
[Claudia] new brown suede cloth pants, lots of silver jewelry, silver hairclip, simple yellow button down shirt, brown and yellow brocade west.
74 Kristy and the Copycat:
Stacey had pulled her permed blonde hair back with a leopard-print scarf tied under one ear. She was wearing one of her favorite pairs of earrings, gold leaf-shaped ones. She was also wearing a black wrap long-sleeve top, a short, low-slung brown skirt with a big belt, black tights, and leopard print flats.
Today she was into big: a big yellow shirt with red X-shaped buttons, enormously baggy white pants, and big red Doc Martens double-laced with black and yellow shoelaces. Her long straight black hair was pulled up on top of her head with more black and yellow shoelaces braided together. Her earrings were "stop" and "go" - "stop" in her left ear and "go" in her right.
Claudia was wearing a red satin baseball cap, purple sweatpants that were cut off just below the knees, purple high-tops with neon pink laces, red-and-white-striped socks, and a red and pink tie-dyed crop top shirt. Stacey was in black bicycle shorts with neon yellow racing stripes down the sides, a pair of Nikes with matching neon yellow swooshes on the side, (but ordinary white laces), an enormous white v-neck t-shirt, a black jog bra, and a Brooklyn Dodgers baseball cap, turned around backwards. They were both using old gloves of mine. Stacey was wearing my whistle. Claudia had this funky clay whistle shaped like a bird on a leather thong around her neck that she'd made in art class.
75 Jessi's horrible prank
For example, at that meeting she was wearing '50's-style cat's-eye glasses frames, a plastic barrette in the shape of an alligator, a tie-dyed T-shirt, and bell-bottoms.
76 Stacey's lie
The next morning I got up, pulled on a pair of blue tights, black canvas walking shorts, a long-sleeved, blue t-shirt, and a pair of black flats. I piled my blonde perm on top of my head and fastened it with a blue stretchy tie. and changed into my new one-piece shorts dress with the gold, red and green Aztec-style print. I slipped into a pair of light tan woven flats and I was set to go.
I settled on this super cute flowing pants outfit in a sunflower print against a navy blue background. It had a high waist, cap sleeves, and a scoop neck, and the pants were long and full.
For example, today she was wearing a long, black, crocheted vest that fell to her knees over a pair of black shorts and a white blouse with ruffles at the collar and cuffs. Her hair was in two long braids tied with black and white ribbons at the ends. On her feet were black sandals with a thick platform sole and white ribbons which laced around her ankles...The outfit might sound crazy, but it looked great.
I pulled on a pair of green leggings and a sleeveless denim top. Claudia wore a pair of wild tie-dyed leggings and an over-sized T-shirt she'd designed and silk-screened herself. She'd painted a flock of birds flying diagonally across it.
white and blue sundress with a dropped waist and square sailor collar.
78. Claudia and crazy Peaches
I’ll wear suspenders backwards with tuxedo pants and a long sleeved t-shirt I’ved tie-dyed myself. Or I’ll cover an entire jean vest with tiny safety pins and funky plastic charms from a gumball machine and wear that with a jean skirt and bright red cowboy boots.
I slipped on a pair of baggy jeans with an extra long belt and grabbed a pinstripe vest to go over my white shirt. For color, I wore my purple high-tops and a black derby with a pink-and-purple hatband.
80 Mallory Pike, #1 Fan:
For example, today she wore wide-legged maroon corduroy pants, a yellow paisley-print blouse with ruffle sleeves, and a yellow-and-maroon striped vest. Her hair was fixed in two braids and she wore a black brimmed fisherman's cap. On her feet were heavy-soled Doc Marten shoes with bright yellow laces.
81 Kristy and Mr. Mom:
This winter Claud's been into hats. She buys old hats in thrift stores and covers them in sequins, buttons, and really outrageous feathers. Usually she wears them with one of her super-trendy outfits, like a red long underwear shirt with tiny black-and-white polka-dot suspenders, pinstripe trousers and ruby-sequined slippers.
82 Jessi and the Troublemaker:
Stacey had on an oversized black sweater and a metallic gold T-shirt underneath.
She doesn't often wear jeans, but she was wearing them today - only she'd cut patterns in the legs of the jeans (which were major faded) and was wearing leopard tights underneath so that they showed through. She was wearing her black Doc Martens with yellow shoelaces and she'd used matching shoelaces to pull her hair back into a long, thick braid. Her earrings were a pair she'd made herself, out of little yellow feathers and black beads. And was wearing a black and yellow striped flannel shirt buttoned up to her throat, with another pair of shoelaces made into a sort of bow tie.
83:Stacey vs. the BSC:
A super baggy man's shirt that must have once belonged to a sumo wrestler, enormous light wool black trousers gathered at the waist with a silken sash, and old work boots. Her hair was pulled back with a barrette in the shape of teeth.
84 Dawn and the school spirit war
Her long black hair was tucked into a wide-brim purple rain hat with colorful Native American designs painted on the brim. She wore a matching purple slicker with identical designs along the hem. Even her umbrella matched!
85. Claudia Kishi, live from WSTO:
I was wearing a backward t-shirt, overalls I'd made from sewing two halves of different pairs and mismatched socks. It was my "deconstructionist" look.
Dressed in jeans and a button-down men’s shirt over a stretch top, I walked to the Pikes’.
Her outfit was a plain, button-down shirt and khaki slacks with running shoes. (She still had six studs in her ears, but I guess you can’t plug up the holes, can you?)
Anyway, I wore the coolest tuxedo I’d recently bought in a thrift shop, including a silky, piped shirt and a bright red velvet cummerbund. I removed the shoulder pads from the jacket, which made it really slouchy (I love that look). Then I bought a pair of white socks with silver glitter. I decided to wear a pair of red sneakers to match the cummerbund. I swept my hair up and fastened it with a rhinestone barrette in the shape of a musical note.
87 Stacey and the bad girls
Jeans? Worn yesterday with an U4Me T-shirt(U4Me is my current fave rock group). Flowered minidress? The day before. Black-striped baggy shorts? The day before that, with an oversized white sweatshirt. I tried on a pair of cream-colored drawstring pants. Finally I settled on a midnight-blue-and-white striped hooded sweatshirt with a laced placket, and matching Spandex leggings.
I finally settled on a simple floral-patterned sundress - young, carefree, pretty.
The hanger in my mouth held a pastel pink sundress. In my left hand was my striped nautical shirt and a pair of white shorts, in my right a blue button-down shirt and khakis. (she put on those)
88 Farewell, Dawn:
She was already dressed in blue and white plaid shorts and a blue T-shirt. I pulled on a pair of white shorts and a short-sleeved flowered blouse, slipped into straw sandals, bent forward, then quickly brushed my long blonde hair.
Today she was wearing a baggy, white cotton jumpsuit that was cut wide and open at the sides and neckline. Under it she wore two sleeveless T-shirts, one purple, one pink. She'd tied the jumpsuit with a belt she'd made from safety pins and beads, and she'd used fabric paint to create a jungle scene on the left leg of the jumpsuit. From her ears dangled two colorful wooden parrot earrings onto which she'd glued beads that matched the beads on her belt.
Naturally, Claudia put together the perfect outfit for the occasion - red shorts, a green vest over a white T-shirt, and sandals she'd laced to her knees with criss-crossing red and green ribbon. Homemade papier-mache Santa earrings completed the look.
A gauzy blue sundress. It had small pearly buttons down the front and it flared on the bottom, which was just about two inches above my knees. Mom bought it for me, among a pair of new straw sandals and some carved wooden beads I liked.
It was a purple and pink bag woven in a Mexican print. My name was embroidered on the front in black yarn.
91. Claudia and the first thanksgiving:
My autumn fashion colors. I’d put on a pair of baggy pants, not blue, not black, but yellow. With these I was wearing my red Doc Martens, laced with orange and yellow laces, and this great, funky, enormous shirt that I found in a vintage clothes shop. It has a leaf pattern on it. The leaves are in a Hawaiian print design, and the colors are fabulous. Underneath I was wearing my red and yellow tie-dyed long underwear shirt. To complete the ensemble, I had on earrings that I’d made myself, shaped like pumpkins, and a fringed yellow-and-white scarf tied around my hair.
I looked (I modestly admit) pretty great. I did not look as if I belonged with the other three people sitting at the table. My mom wore a tailored navy dress with little pearl earrings. My father was wearing a navy pinstripe suit (the jacket was hanging on the back of his chair). Janine was practically a rainbow by comparison: She was dressed in a navy wool skirt and a navy v-neck sweater over a pink oxford shirt. I grabbed my jacket (yellow, with big black buttons, also from the vintage clothes shop)
That’s because, like me, Stacey has a style of her own. But while mine is Kishi original, hers is New York sophisticated. She was wearing an oversized midnight blue turtleneck under a cropped black wool jacket with square gold buttons. She had on black suede ankle boots, the kind that wrinkle around your ankles. Her fitted black jeans were tucked into the tops of the boots. She had looped a light blue muffler around her neck and wore matching gloves.
She’s a jeans and sweatshirt person, which is what she was wearing today over a red checked flannel shirt.
She had on a purple leotard with her jeans, and a big fuzzy lavender cardigan sweater.
Just for the occasion, I was wearing my rainbow-colored crinkle gauze skirt, my crocheted vest with the matching hat, and my silver earrings (designed by me, of course).
93 Mary Anne and the memory garden
Today she was wearing a black derby hat with a red-and-white polka dot ribbon, which matched her "ruby slippers" (high top sneakers with red sequins). Black and white striped trousers with red suspenders, and a black long sleeved T-shirt completed the outfit.
94 Stacey McGill, super sitter
hot pink parka, pink beret.
For instance, today she wore a long-sleeved tie-dyed shirt that she’d dyed herself. Under it she had on black leggings onto which she’d sewn patches of the tie-dyed material. Her silky, long black hair was tied back with a matching tie-dyed scrunchy.
I dressed in jeans and a thick red sweater, tied my hair back in a red scrunchy.
95 Kristy + Bart =?
a bowling shirt with the name 'Ralph' sewn over the front pocket, and matching loose rayon pants, gathered at the waist with a leather strap. She'd pinned her hair with a barrette in the shape of two bowling pins.
96 Abbys Lucky Thirteen
Like today, when the predominant look was jeans and pullovers and nikes, Claudia was in leopard print tights, black ankle boots with fuzzy yellow slouch socks, black bicycle shorts, a yellow leotard, and this teeny tiny fuzzy sweater with cap sleeves that was black with big yellow buttons. her earrings were leopards: on one side a leopard looked as if it were coming through her earlobe toward you. on the other side, you could only see the back of the leopard, disappearing into her earlobe, as if her earlobes were these weird leopard cat doors. She'd crinkle-braided her hair, and the tied the crinkled parts at the top with knots of yellow ribbon.
[Jessi] was wearing a loose rose-coloured turtleneck, a jean skirt, tights and pale pink warm up leggings with her flat shoes.
Kristy had on cords instead of jeans, and was wearing a nice sweater over a button-down shirt. Mary Anne had on a pale yellow wool skirt, dark tights, a plaid vest, and a turtleneck sweater. Claudia had gone all out in a long skirt, lace socks peeking out above her black Doc Martens, and a tunic top with a belt she'd made herself out of twists of lace and a silver buckle. She wore her hair in a single braid tied with a piece of lace, and her earrings were silver snowflakes.
99 Staceys Broken Heart
Today Claudia had on an oversized purple top over turquoise leggings. With fabric paints she'd painted a beautiful unicorn on the top and then decorated the leggings with designs in the same colors. From her ears dangled earrings she'd made of papier mache in the shape of unicorn heads.
I decided to wear the black dress and a pair of black sandals. I fixed my hair in a French braid and put on a pair of gold hoop earrings.
I dressed in black skinny pants and a light pink cardigan. (Another of our Bellair buys.) After picking through my perm, I put on some tannish-pink lipstick and a pair of bead earrings.
100 Kristys Worst Idea:
For instance, at that Labor Day meeting, she was wearing a bracelet of dyed, braided shoelaces, along with a blousy, ruffled shirt that looked as if it once belonged to Captain Hook, mismatched high top converse sneakers, and baggy, pinstriped mens suit pants, gathered at the waist with a bungee cord.
