Nothing irritated me more than Claudia's horrible spelling! I began reading the books when I was eight and I never liked Claudia because I just couldn't respect her at all...she was meant to be this big, grown up 13-year-old, and she couldn't spell a thing! Even the new girl in our class who'd just moved from Vietnam was better than her within the year.

^ Wasn't that part of the "chapter 2" in Crazy Peaches? Maybe that's why it was included but agree about always having to emphasize the "special" traits. Nah it wasn't a Chapter 2, just a random part in the middle of the book.

^ I just reread that part of Crazy Peaches and it was pretty annoying. Don't exaggerate it so much!

^ ;D I think I've mentioned it before but my a guy in the office next to my dad at work has to ask him constantly how to spell things so he can get them close enough to look up in the dictionary. ;D The guy is really smart, too, and has a masters. Just can't spell. ;D

I think the thing that irritated me the most was how Claudia could just sit around and eat Junk food and not gain a pound. It drove me nuts!

^ I was able to do that, until I developed anorexia (not the self-imposed kind), and now I can't stop gaining weight. Something changed in my metabolism when I was literally starving to death, and now my body processes food differently. It's really annoying, actually. So that doesn't bother me as much as the fact that none of these girls, who are at that age when hormones and puberty is starting and none of them do sports (which to me is really weird - all my friends did something athletic, whether they wanted to or not), are overweight at all. In fact, they all mention how they are "actually pretty thin." The closest we get is Mallory being "sturdy," which I'd take to mean that she's got the athletic build but isn't athletic.

Now I've sworn off fast food and am drinking coke zero instead of the real thing.......ugh, and hitting the gym even when I'm tired. Oh, and Janine annoyed me with her "precise" speech. Argh, way to be pretentious!

My best friend's spelling is almost as bad as Claudia's. Happily enough, mine is very good, so I've done a fair amount of proofreading for her.

^ This makes me think that last night, I had my mom trying to spell check something for me to help me save time and it was so awful (not just from my spelling but mostly because of how fast I was typing and the huge amount of typos that caused) that she gave up and said "I can't even figure out what words most of these are supposed to be!" ;D All I could think is "I'm Claudia" ;D

Yes that's what I was going to say...it was a tad unrealistic that she spelled almost EVERY word wrong, ALL the time...most people would find spelling some of those words wrong extremely hard! I used to think, come on Ann M., give her a break...
