I didn’t know he moved there. What book mentioned that?

Jake Kuhn's dad moved to Texas, Kristy's moved to California. Were there any moms who after divorcing moved so far away without their kids? We never hear about is Franklin DeWitt's ex-wife.

When my parents got divorced my dad only moved about 30 minutes away and that still felt pretty far. I can't imagine parents moving any farther from their kids than that.
I don't remember many moms moving away. There was the ex-wife of the guy who Stacey's mom started dating, but I don't remember which book that was. The kids hated Stacey because they thought her mom was trying to take their mom's place. And in Mary Anne and the Haunted Bookstore, the kids were pretty mean to the dad's new girlfriend, even though their mom was nowhere to be seen. I guess in Stoneybrook, moms only move away if it serves as a plot device.

I used to like the Barrett's in the earlier books before the boring DeWitts entered their lives and before they had to give up Pow. After Mr. DeWitt and Ms. Barrett married, they became boring.
I know that this is a controversial headcanon but I can see Buddy and Suzi pulling a Jeff and Dawn and moving in with their father full time in a few years down the road because neither of them could stand the DeWitts.

I barely even remember the DeWitts, I think I only remember Lindsey.
Anyway, I think the Barretts are pretty cute. I love Buddy and Suzi was just cute. I'm curious to know what Marnie's ham face looked like.

None of the dewitts aside from Lindsey stands out. I don’t know why they had to write so many extra kids. Franklin with a daughter would have been a good subplot.

Franklin with a daughter would have been a good subplot. i know ann likes big families so that's probably why, but honestly the amount of families with four kids in that town was crazy. that's SO MANY KIDS! not to mention every scene that featured the dewitts was basically them arguing with the barretts or each other. i did like franklin though, he seemed like he had potential to be a watson-type dad.

I think it's partially because there were so many stepfamilies in Stoneybrook...I suspect Ann knew many stepfamilies growing up.
