Ohh how I wish they'd include a scene of Jessi and Mal playing horse. I need to know what they do when they play it! Just get on all 4s and crawl around neighing?!

Picturing Jessi and Mal crawling around neighing seriously makes me laugh. Total WTF moment for anyone besides them to witness, I'm sure.
I also hated that Bill was called "Bill." Melody and Skylar are such trendy names, and he gets called BILL, ugh. Maybe he was named after his dad, but I like Billy or Will better for a little boy...and I also wouldn't have been able to remember if he was ten or nine. His age did seem kinda inconsistent.
I also don't like him for that one book where he and Melody were constantly fighting with each other, a la Sean and Corrie Addison. He was pushing her down, yelling at her, etc., being a total bully. I always liked Melody, ever since she made an appearance in the Karen books, after Amanda Delaney moves away. I think it's cute when she is auditioning for a singing part in that talent show in Stacey vs. the BSC and whoever is the sitter in the chapter says something like "Melody Korman did not live up to her name." Hehe.
Skylar, I always thought was adorable. Her "tat" cries never bugged me, and I think it's hilarious when Kristy sits for her one time and takes note that she likes hearing the song "Breaking Up is Hard to Do" before falling asleep.
The Toilet Monster, on the other hand, was a snooze fest. Lame and not really believable.

Oh yeah, I had forgotten that Melody was first introduced in Karen's Goodbye! That's cool, I really liked it when they met.

Tonight, our toilet started making a weird noise and I thought "Ugh! The toilet monster!" and started laughing. This also reminded me of an experience I had in a Disney World bathroom - a little girl was screaming and pitching an absolute fit because she was terrified of the auto-flush toilets but really had to go to the bathroom. And our friend is always paranoid that his wallet is going to fall into the toilet and get auto-flushed. Guess the Kormans wouldn't be able to go to Disney or wouldn't be able to use the bathroom the whole time

I love how when the Kormans are first introduced (can't remember offhand which book it was), Skylar is a boy. Then a few books later she's a girl. Yay for inconsistancies!

I missed that about Skylar! What book is that in? I know they are introduced in Karen's Goodbye. I'll see what it says about him/her (that sounds scary in that one.

I've been trying to find the book where they referred to Skylar as a "he" and I can't find it, but I am missing most of the books in the 40s, so it might be in one of those? There is definitely at least one book where she's a boy. This is gonna drive me nuts now until I find it.

^ No problem. Don't know what is the issue with the search lately. I used to be able to get it to work but not the last week or so. I’ve been trying all morning to think of at least one positive thing about the Kormans but had no success. ;D Coincidentally, I just read about them in Big Party and remembered how much I didn’t like that subplot of them fighting. Agree about the Delaneys being more interesting. At least they were funny, even though Amanda’s incessant bragging got really old.

The Kormans "toilet monster" was cute IMO. Skylar's "tats" for cats was really cute too,IMO.

Thanks aln for finding this thread ;D Kormans: most pointless clients in the series. Yes/no? Pointless: Stoneybrook already had a family, who was "down to earth" and "normal" in the wealthy neighborhood. The papadakisi had Linny, Hannie and Sari. Two girls and a boy. boy being the oldest, a girl karen's age, and a baby. I liked the Delaney family, they occasionally had problems that I understood -- like the pool thing. They also had a lot more they could do with the delaney family, in terms of random problems that the sitters could solve, where as any problem that went to the Kormans -- toilet monster, inablity to say cat -- could easily have been put on another family. As for the toilet monster, maybe they could have given it to an age appropriate family. Not kids who are 7 and ..10? 9? How old is Bill anyway? And the fact that they bought a multi - million dollar property, actively decreased it's market value, and still couldn't afford a nanny or a housekeeper kind of bothers me. I understand that clay courts need to be brushed and taken care of daily, and if they don't play tennis, it might not be something they want. Then why buy the house? Were they that desperate to live in Stoneybrook? There seemed to be a lot of houses for sale in different areas. And they don't know if their kids want to play tennis yet or not. It would be a good thing for them to give to their kids -- tennis lessons. They might enjoy it! Much more then a stupid garden that could go anywhere on the property.
