^I think she liked Logan in one book only too.

Would anyone be able to post the pic from European Vacation that shows Cokie? It was linked earlier in the thread but the link is broken.
I've been dying to get a good mental picture of Cokie! Is she ever given a physical description in the books?

I don't have my copy with me, but IIRC the picture looks a bit like Marla Sokoloff aka movie Cokie...shoulder length wavy/curly hair that looks brown or dark auburn.
I'm surprised neither Cokie nor Grace were given physical descriptions in the books...

Maybe Ann originally wanted the readers to imagine what Cokie and Grace looked like.

^ I noticed that one too. Maybe Kristy was worried that Cokie would end up marrying Alan. ;D That is an interesting combination.... Could you imangine if their kid and Kristy's started dating. That would be an epic fanfic there. Cokie was a first rate b!tch allright. I hated here when I was younger but looking back it kinda seems like it was the BSC that were the bigger b!tches. I think Cokie was trying to give them some of their own medicine. I've always had the theory that the rest of SMS thought that the BSC were a bunch of dorks. It was just in their minds that they were "popular" . I can just see Kristy provoking eye rolls around every corner. They were such goodie goodies and know it alls. I love it in Mary Anne to the rescue when the first aide instructor talks about how balloons can choke kids and Kristy pipes up by saying," In the BSC we keep balloons up high and always throw away broken pieces." And Alan Gray says, "My Hero!" Well at least they were thought to be cool by the 7 and 8 year olds.

I "love to hate" Cokie because she's an enemy of the BSC. I think her chapter in Starring the BSC about whether or not Ellie could join her group because of her complexion was realistic.

i definitely don't think cokie was a stock villian, or one dimensional. (like cary says, complications make life interesting.) even after her crazy antics early in the series, logan still went out with her, so there must have been something he saw in her. MA even acknowledges that cokie truly had feelings for logan, so i can't hate her for wanting him. especially since she is technically logan's ex. instead of getting over just a crush, she has to get over the boy who got away.

I don't think that the BSC were seen as dorks overall. I think they were reasonably popular. They were nice girls overall, pretty and able to fit in regardless of whatever flaws. And Grace liked them for a bit. If only they kept that friendship..

Cokie is such an interesting character to me....Was there ever any mention of her family? Any life outside of messing with the BSC?
In Ann's letter to the reader at the end of Kristy's Mystery Admirer, Ann wrote "Who knows - maybe someday Cokie will have a book of her own!" I am so dissapointed this never happened!

Ooh, I never read that letter! I'm disappointed too. I liked getting her POV in Starring the Baby-sitters Club. As for family, her grandmother is in Kristy and the Missing Fortune and becomes friends with Kristy.

Really? Hmm...I wonder if she had any siblings, and what her family life was like. Maybe there was some reason for her behavior.... The book could have told us what she's supposed to look like, where her friendship with Grace originated, her family, what she REALLY thinks of the BSC.....wow, so many possibilities...

I agree, ndj. I would have loved to learn more about Cokie and her backstory. She's got to hate the BSC for more reasons that just Logan!

As per Ann's message in the new edition of Kristy's Mystery Admirer, do you think she planned to write about Cokie but it just never happened? Maybe they were going to fit it into some Reader's Request where Logan and Shannon each got their own story.
This makes me think: does anyone remember if there was a poll for which tertiary character you got a story from? Or was it just from letters from fans wanting a Shannon and Logan story?

^I would have much preferred a book about the secondary characters to Shannon or Logan's books. Then again, I have always wished, Ann had developed a spin-off of books about the charges and/sitter's families as opposed to all about Karen Brewer.

I think that a Cokie Mason book, added onto the Reader's Request series, would have been a really popular and much-read book.
