Margot is cute, although at first glance I always picture the word "escargot" ;D

and Margo, because it's quite pretty - except I don't get Ann's spelling of it. I've only ever seen it spelt "Margot" or "Margaux" (I love the last one!) I prefer "Margo" for the character. I think the Pikes were very no-frills about naming their children.

^ I'm so glad about that - imagine if Ann had made them modern and whacky with names: "Malloreigh has eight brothers and sisters. The triplets, Oakley, Gorian and Maximillian are ten. Then there's Valetta (9), Kaleb (8), Marikaye (7) and Clodagh, which is pronounced "klo-DAH" (5)." I'm glad "Myriah" was basically as confusing as it got! Margot is cute, although at first glance I always picture the word "escargot" ;D Hee! I never thought of that!

Way Back in 2006, Jen said: But all old-lady Nancys must have been young at SOME point! People aren't just born as old ladies... So all those Ediths and Enids must've been little girls at some stage.
Ktag replied: ^Yep, and then they change their name to Elizabeth.
Thank you both for the LOL!
In what book is Nannie's name Janet Taylor revealed? I recall finding out the "Taylor" part but never the Janet.
Speaking of "Taylor," whoever pointed out that was Bart's last name and the name of the SMS Principal...and if Benjamin Taylor=Bart's Dad...it was odd the connection was never made.
ITA agree with so many of the names sounding old lady or man-like in the case of Bill Korman. John Philip Ramsey does ring older than younger to me, too.
Linny, I just looked up in Google, and it said Leandros is a Greek boy's name. Linny might be a nickname for Lionel. Remember Lionel Menders? No offense to anyone with that name in real life but...jeez Ann!
I do think poor David Michael got the worst deal both in name and abandoment (his dad and later the series itself). I never did like double names or last names as first names. Watson. Hamilton. Franklin, etc.
Worst of the worst? Lyman Bruno! (Logan's Dad) Archibald Rodowsky, a close second followed possibly by Byron Pike. Adam and Jordan, heck even Nicky got cool and good sounding names and then there was Byron the reject. Margo, too.

I like the names Mary Anne and Gabby. Both sound really nice and cute.

Nancy is a lovely name, and I'd consider it as a middle name for a future daughter because we've had several wonderful Nancys in our lives.

In what book is Nannie's name Janet Taylor revealed? I recall finding out the "Taylor" part but never the Janet. Nannie's name was mentioned in a Little Sister book. I can't think of the name of it, but I think it's the one where Karen stole Nannie's secret recipe for something and submitted it into the cookbook Ms. Colman was making with Karen's class.

Nancy is a classic and reminds me of Nancy Drew, but unfortunately I think of the term "nancy boy" when I hear it.
I used to like the name Gabbie but not really anymore and prefer to hear the full name Gabrielle/a. Prettier.

I like the name Gabrielle as well but whenever I hear that name, I think of the character Gabrielle of the television show, Xena: Warrior Princess.

Love the name Dawn, Stacey, Kristen/Kristin and Claudia. Speaking of Claudia- Has anyone EVER met a Claudia? It's a common name but at the same time isn't..if you catch what I mean. I worked with a Claudia, but she was in her 60s and sounded exactly like my late grandmother. She was totally a lot sweeter than my grandma was and had the junk food cravings of our own Claudia Kishi! Linny is usually a nickname of Leonard or Lionel from what I have seen...I work with one of them. Sari is one of my nicknames and my name is Sara...from what I know it is pronounced like Sara with an i instead at the end. Or like Sar-ee. I have known many people with BSC names, but never knew an actual Mary Anne. I have seen the name on licenses where I work though! Seems strange when I have known a Claudia and several Mallory's and Dawn's.

I've known one Claudia, in high school.
I like Sari, but as a nickname for Sara, not pronounced "sah-ree."

I suppose Mary Anne would be my favorite name, because, well, it's my name too! Only I don't spell it the same way - I'm Marianne.
I knew a Mary Ann in college. We had a class together and we sat next to each other; when we found out we had the same name we were all "OMG! So cool! How do you spell it?" ;D

I was trying to think of all the hippie-ish names that have appeared in the books...I like them. There's Dawn Read, Sunshine Daydream, Clover, Daffodil, Melody, Autumn, Tansy, Harmony Skye. There's even an Amethyst in Palo City (she tries out for Vanish in the California Diaries, don't know if it's just her stage name, though!) Can anyone think of others?
