Feel free to discuss these two in general, but I do have a question. I haven't read all of the later books (I'm working on it right now!) so I don't really understand their relationship. I've caught bits and pieces of it, but I need someone to explain it more! How does she meet him? Just as SMS? And then they date... and I've gathered they break up because he cheats on her. How does she find that out? (I know I'm spoiling future books for myself, but I don't care!) and then, in Euro Vacation (I think it's that one) she is saying how her and Robert are like, "real, actual friends" now... why the heck is she friends with the guy who cheated on her?! Do they remain friends or does he randomly go away at some point? How long did they date?

The only ones I've read with Robert in them are the one where they meet, Stacey & the Cheerleaders, and the Europe one. Stacey started dating this popular basketball player and hanging out with his 'cool' friends. Then she realized the guy was an idiot and started liking Robert, another basketball player. He liked her too, so they got together. Stacey tried out for cheerleading, but didn't make it because apparently she was too pretty and good. So she got pissed off and Robert got pissed off and he quit the team. Bye bye basketball and bye bye friends. That's about all I know. Oh, and for a brief period of time, Mary Anne wasn't the only one with a steady boyfriend in the chapter twos anymore. I guess if they dated for about 30 books, that is a pretty big chunk of the series.

Stacey finds out he's been cheating on her at the end of (a) summer when she goes to New York for a week to sit for the Walkers. She gets phone calls from people that have seen him and Andi Gentile around town, and Claudia calls her with the news that she saw Robert kiss Andi. When she comes back to Stoneybrook, they talk and Robert says her feels more comfortable with Andi and his old crowd. In Stacey and the Stolen Hearts, Andi has broken up with Robert and talks to Stacey about him acting weird and depressed lately and wants her to talk to him, and so they kind of start up their friendship again. In Stacey's Ex-Boyfriend, Robert's depression is getting worse, and she gets more concerned. She helps him "work" through it, gets him to talk to his coach, and they go to a dance together. She doesn't have any romantic feelings for him anymore, just a friendship-type love.
It did seem that they dated for a good chunk of the series, so I grew fond of Robert. It was realistic that he kept being drawn back to his old crowd in different ways, since he fit with them but Stacey didn't, so as a couple they were always bowing out of things. He probably resented giving up stuff for her. It was kind of implied in Stacey's Ex-Boyfriend that Robert didn't start getting depressed around the time he and Andi broke up, but rather when he and Stacey broke up. Like changing girlfriends would have improved his moods or something, but it didn't. So Stacey is kind of glad that his relationship with Andi wasn't even a happy one.

Pretty much irrelevant, but I imagined Robert as being really hot until I saw his shoes on the cover of Stacey's Lie.

I always loved the name Andi Gentile. I mean its so soft and flowy, how could you be mad at a girl named Andi Gentile? Even if she did take your man. Was Andi even ever mentioned before "Stacey's Broken Heart"? It would have been better if they had paired him with one of the cheerleaders we knew from "Stacey and the Cheerleaders".

Andi was the last of the "bad girls" to be written out of Stacey's social circle -- she was on vacation when the rest of the grunge sisters were sneaking wine into boy band concerts, so Stacey hung out with her after she dropped Sheila and the gang.

Gentile has always struck me as a really weird last name to me since "gentile" means "non-Jewish."

im pretty sure that the name Gentile is italian and would be pronounced Gen-ti-leh. but yeah the whole gentile thing is sorta funny.
i liked stacey and robert, he sounded really sweet but then he cheated on her and had depression in Stacyes Ex Boyfriend, a book which i found quite boring. i liked Ethan better

Total word.
Speaking of Stacey's Lie, I think Robert sucked in that entire book. He KNEW all along that Stacey was deceiving everyone and then cracked the sh*ts right at the last minute? If he wasn't happy with the arrangement, why didn't he say something earlier? That really bugged me.

For some reason, I always pronounced it "Gen-teal" but knew that was totally wrong. Sometimes I come up with "alternate" pronounciations. I still have a problem with calling "Phobe" "Fobe" and "Sean" is "Seen". ;D

Yeah, I've got that Sean/Seen problem as well! I know it's pronounced like "shorn" but I just can't read it any other way!
