^ Agree about Anna. I really like her - much better than Abby - but didn't get to know her enough. Also, I was just noticing in Dawn and Too Many Sitters how Jeff and Abby seem to have a similar sense of humor with the corny and constant jokes (which drive me crazy ƒº) I think it would have been interesting to explore more of a relationship between these two ¡V having her sit for him and spend more time around the Schafers. I think Abby and Jeff would have gotten along well and wonder if this might have created some tension between her and Dawn, especially since there might have already been a tendency for that because Abby replaced Dawn in the club. I don¡¦t think that potential jealousy/conflict was developed enough, either, and also wish that they would have focused a bit more on building a relationship between Abby and at least one of the other sitters. Though she was sometimes friends with Kristy, I would have liked to see more interaction between her and the other girls. A friendship with MA would have been especially interesting, again because of the Dawn factor.

I would think Abby and Mary Anne were too different to really be friends. An Anna/Mary Anne friendship might be interesting though.

^ Agree about the differences between Abby and MA but that might make it more interesting ;D I think a MA/Anna friendship would definitely work.

The only BSC member that Anna really got on well with was Shannon, but Shannon is only an associate member, so you'd never hear about them Another thing about the Mary Anne/Abby friendship, not only would it create tension with Dawn, but also with MA's other best friend Kristy considering she and Abby often share strong tension due to their competitive natures. Kristy was very p***ed off in particular in Kristy's Worst Idea, when MA and Abby were late for a meeting because they went shopping together.

Anyone else notice that Abby seems to do a lot of lying/hiding things in her books? She always seems to hide things from her mom and even the BSC. In Abby the Bad Sport, she lies about being benched and in Abby's Lucky 13 she lies about being suspended. I think she also lies about something with calling her Great Aunt in Abby in Wonderland. And she takes off to NY without telling anyone in Abby and the Mystery Baby. I guess, though, this can be expected after the example her mother sets with things like not telling the girls who the baby was in Mystery Baby. I never really thought of that, but I am glad you pointed that out. I like Abby but it does seem like she did sneak around quite a bit. Even though, I still like Abby for some reason. I have liked her a lot since super special number 13. Her chapter while she was getting ready in the morning was really funny to me for some reason.

^ I thought that was hilarious too in SS 13. I liked her a lot better in that book and in her portrait than in most of her stories.

I'm going to revive this thread. Abby is actually my favorite character. I don't know why, I just like her. I guess the only way that I relate to her is that we both seemed to get the short end of the straw. I won't go into that unless someone else asks, but there's also the allergies. I suffer from year around allergies and asthma. There are points and times when I talk "allergy talk" as well. Even though it is annoying, I can sympathize. Allergies in themselves are annoying! I always liked her sense of humor. Puns are the greatest, even though I don't tend to use them much. Other than that, even though her family is mysterious, I like Abby. There's just something about her.

I like Abby, especailly her potrait book. That said, I haven't read that much of her, so hopefully will get round to it. It would have been nice to see her interact with BSC more!

^ Agree about the interaction. The only one she really seemed to do much with was Kristy. Then again, she did come in pretty late in the series. I liked her better in her potrait than in most books. She is growing on me, though. ;D

I just reread Abby and Wonderland and like her pretty well in that one. It got me thinking about Abby and made me think about how she and Anna have to really fend for themselves it seems. I think she's the member who has the least accessible parent. Kristy has her mom and Watson right there, Stacey is close with her mom, Claudia's parents are there, same with Jessi and Mal's. Sharon is there for Dawn and MA too and so is Richard. Abby's mom seems to always either be gone or preoccupied. I know she does try to do things for her daughters but it just seems like it takes them more to call on her than it would the other girls to go to their parents or parent (if that makes sense). After reading Abby's Book, I think that the girls' dad was really the one who did the most with them.

I haven't read Abbys book in a while so I'm not sure about the parent-child dynamic her dad had as opposed to her mom, but I often have thought that their mom pulled away after the dad died and always assumed she was pretty well involved before that. could be wrong though I like Abby and I think she is hilarious (unpopular opinion, I know) and she kind of reminds me of myself in that she just goes on and on and randomly says weird things. Could live w/o her Elvis obsession though. So strange.

I liked Abby too. She brought in another dynamic to oppose Kristy. Kristy was so overbearing it was nice to see someone that was just as take charge and outgoing as her. As for the Elvis obsession... I can kidn of relate to it... not with Elvis...but kind of like AMM.. I'm a Judy Garland fanatic... along the same lines of Abby's Elvis. (going so far as to dress up as a character from my favorite movie...no not the wizard of oz... Meet Me In St. Louis...although I did do the Wicked Witch one year...) not your typical halloween outfit...then again neither was my Stacey/Claudia one when i was in fourth grade... anyway getting off subject. I liked ABby...especially in her own books. She was quirky, and i'm just dorky enough to like that personality.

I like Abby. I haven't read too many of her books, but I tend to like her better in her books than I do in the other books. She can get a little annoying sometimes in the other girls' books. But she definitely seems to have a very different voice from the other girls in her books.

Agree that Abby added a different perspective and a different type of character. Even though I don't personally care for her humor, it is unlike any of the other girls'. I also like how she conflicted and went head-to-head with Kristy and wish that they would have developed her relationship with the other girls more. I feel there were a lot of missed opportunities for storylines for Abby. As for her relationship with her dad vs. her mom, I guess what I was really talking about was that he was physically more available always (I know that might not sound good but you know what I mean ;D) than her mom. I'm particularly thinking of how he is the one who took the girls to school and stayed home with them most of the time - a "Mr. Mom" type arrangement was kind of how I viewed it. I agree, though, that Mrs. Stevenson did grow more distant and had some major issues dealing with his death.
