I like debate because it helps me to formulate and clarify my own thoughts on the matter. I don't like it on some boards though when people get kind of mean. (TWOP sometimes). I realize now that my actions were kind of snobbish and mean and that many people don't have the opportunities that I have had. BUT at the same time, I think that it's completely unfair to say things that judge other peoples actions (mine in this case) because there is actually a lot I missed out on.

I think Shannon's story was the book that really turned me off to her. I just couldn't relate to her attitude and the way she treated her mom. (But this is just me - know there are a lot of Shannon fans on here and I don't want to debate my opinion on this ;D) As for being spoiled, I don't think being spoiled has so much to do with having money (though it does definitely help ;D) as with just being given everything so you come to expect it. I think it's more of an "entitlement complex" than anything. I've seen some pretty poor kids with this and known a lot of kids who are given everything they could ever want (myself included ;D) but still don't feel just entitled or take things for granted. I think it's all in how kids are raised - not in how much they are given. Again, don't feel like debating as this is my experience and observations. ;D it's a lot easier to give kids all that they want when you have they money to do so, however, so i think there's a higher occurence of spoiled kids from wealthy families. plus having a lot of money gives you the security to think that something like Paris will always be available to you. that's my take on it.

^ Agree there are probably more spoiled kids who are wealthy and that money gives security. Did Shannon ever sit for the Barretts? I thought it was cute when Buddy got the crush on her. ;D

i liked that too. i really like shannon, even when she acts like a brat. i like seeing the sitters be imperfect. they're only thirteen, after all.

Happy Birthday Shannon! I wonder if it's a coincidence that the only sitter with an Irish name was born on St. Patrick's Day or if it was planned that way.

^ I wondered about Shannon being Irish, too. ;D Was it ever mentioned if she was for sure? (is her last name Irish or just her first?)

Happy late birthday, Shannon! But, wierd...I swear I read somewhere that her birthday was the 8th. It must have been a mistake (an inconsistency, maybe?)
