Our queen of the jeans, turtleneck and baseball cap with the collie! The bossy president of the BSC with the younger brother of questioned parentage ;D
Some have suggested that she's a lesbian, but personally I never got that vibe. Ashley Wyeth, on the other hand...

What is a turtleneck? Is it a skivvy? If it's a skivvy, then why does it seem like Kristy wears them year round? Doesn't it get hot in summer?!

Yeah, it's a skivvy. And it confuses me that she wears them all year round as well... although occasionally they make a point of saying "well, not in the middle of summer of course" or claiming that she wears a turtleneck or t-shirt.

Turtlenecks don't have to be thick. And some of the thin ones have fabric that allows wind to get vented in.
As for being a lesbian? Maybe.

Oh, so turtlenecks *can* be worn in summer?
I never got the feeling that Kristy was a lesbian. There *was* Bart! Although I guess they're only 13, and maybe she just hasn't realised yet.

Turtle necks are SO ugly. I HATED how Kristy always wore the same outfit. So stupid. At least say she wears like, a t-shirt in jeans, why a turtle neck?! Gross.
Kristy/Bart made no sense. I can't imagine any boy having a crush on her.

Oh, and her obsession with her step-siblings was so annoying.

I never got the lesbian vibe from Kristy. In fact, I get annoyed when people say that because I feel like they are stereotyping her as a "d**e". (Because athletic, tomboy-ish, not interested in clothes = lesbian apparently.) I mean, hello, she had her very own "sort of boyfriend"! I agree that her obsession with her siblings was beyond annoying. Especially Karen. All in all, though, I don't mind Kristy. She's not my favorite but she can be cool at times. I love her friendship with Shannon, especially in Kristy's Mystery Admirer. So cute.

(Because athletic, tomboy-ish, not interested in clothes = lesbian apparently.) Actually, I agree. I never even considered she was a lesbian before I read the BSC internet discussions (Logan, on the other hand...) Even the BSC's attitude to Kristy was annoying. She was labelled "immature" just because she didn't obsess over boys and fashion.

I really liked Kristy's relationship with Bart. I thought it was very realistic and cute. None of this mushy "he tilted my chin up and softly kissed me" à la Jessi and Quint. Just walks home from softball practice and hanging out at school dances.
(Unless I'm mistaken and their relationship turns mushy and un-Kristy-like later on in the series. I haven't read many of the later books yet.)

When they were "dating," I always felt that Kristy was not as assertive in the "relationship" as she usually is in other aspects of her life, especially when he wants to kiss her and she doesn't want it at that moment.

That mostly only happened in "Kristy + Bart =?", didn't it? Her not being assertive, I mean. She doesn't seem to have a problem with him before. Did he try to kiss her before that book?

I agree that her obsession with her siblings was beyond annoying. Especially Karen. That always just seemed weird to me. Kristy only saw those kids every other weekend and most people I know have step-siblings as a mere technicality only, particularly when there's such a large age gap. But then, the Thomas family were kind of weird like that. In Dawn's Big Move, when they're allocating teams for Run for Your Money, they talk about how Emily might have to be on Nannie's team because she couldn't stand being seperated from her. Wouldn't a two yr old normally be inseperable from her mother? Nannie was there all the time, so it wasn't even like it was a novelty being with grandma for the day.

Maybe the reason Emily was so attached to Nannie is because she was with her all the time. Kristy's mom worked so Nannie would have been taking care of Emily Michelle all day, right? That could be why she couldn't stand to be seperated from her.
You know, for only staying at Watson's every other weekend, Karen and Andrew sure did make a LOT of appearences in the books.
