I myself am a vegetarian and have been one for almost 6 years now. My friends sometimes think I'm crazy, and they would sing the Hillshire Farm commercials just to tease me! Though, Dawn's vegetarianism bugs me a lot. I've always found it weird that she orders the chicken in California Girls, or how she constantly doesn't stick to it! I despise GhostWriters! ARG! Anyway, One thing that should suprise many people is most vegetarian's that I know including me, we don't eat healthy food. Sure I love vegetables, but I'm addicted to Chocolate and Caffine! Mountain Dew Rocks! Esspecially the Blue kind! XD But, I always found it weird that Dawn thinks Candy is the devil! Chocolate and Tofu rock, but I'm not sure about them together! XD Haha yeah this basically sums it up! The thing I hate most about Dawns vegetarianism is like how she bashes vegetarians that don't eat meat because of the animals. She's just all like: "it's just for health reasons I don't care about killing cows!" Uhm, shut up. Also, I have been a vegetarian for seven years and how I wish I could lay off the chocolate and the ice cream and the chocolate ice cream! Definitely not a standard combination to be both a vegetarian and a health freak, although some people think it is...

uhm, so... typo or otherwise? this is from california girls-- is that a ghostie book?
“Today we have a choice of chicken or spaghetti,” said a steward, leaning over so that Dawn, Mary Anne, Kristy, Mal and I could hear him. “What’ll it be?” “Spaghetti,” said everyone except Dawn, who chose chicken. (Across the aisle, Stacey also asked for Chicken. But Claud asked for spaghetti. She absolutely loves it.)
yep. that's our veggie lover dawn!

^I always thought maybe the spaghetti had a meat (beef) sauce as part of it, so Dawn chose chicken as the lesser of two evils...lol. But in Dawn on the Coast, she ordered a vegetarian meal beforehand. Why she just didn't do that for this flight is anybody's guess.
The stewardess in Dawn on the Coast gave her veggie meal away to some old man, so she had to eat salad and cornbread from the regular meal...haha.

Cokiemason, thanks for the laugh "yep. that's our veggie lover dawn!" I love it. Candycane perhaps the first flight simply had no old men on board! The other thing she could have done that just occurred to me now, after countless readings, , is that Dawn could have also packed herself something to eat on the plane beforehand! I used to do that on long flights.

I do that as well! And many flights have vegetarian options anyway, even back then!

I don't eat red meat either, but I don't go around saying I'm a vegetarian. I still eat other meat. I think being a vegetarian would be too hard for me...

I don't eat a lot of meat period, especially red meat, but I do eat some meat. I never have considered myself a vegetarian, and it bothers me when people claim to be vegetarians but still eat chicken, chicken is a meat too!

^ ITA. Then of course there is the other issue of Dawn's clothing. As I've said she had no problem wearing "cows." (Leather). So that, too, puts into question just how much she really was into animal rights.

i've been a vegetarian for 8 years, and a lot of times people apologize for eating meat in front of me when they find out. i have no clue where people got the idea that vegetarians are allowed to dictate other people's decisions. (i blame you, ghostwriters.) but that's something that definitely frustrates me. dawn isn't a very good vegetarian OR a very good friend if she can't combine the two without becoming a meanie mo.

That's a bit funny, I guess. It's such a personal thing that it hardly is offensive the way, say, eating shellfish in front of a kosher-keeping Jew would be! (that being said, it's odd to have hamburgers without cheese with our JEwish friends!)
