I would ask her if she gave any thought to what name she would give to each character.

Well, we know she named Claudia after a real friend.

Yep, her name's Claudia Werner (Stacey's doctor is named after her too)

Have any of you written to Ann recently ((or as adults)? I'm thinking of at long last sending her a letter. I never wrote to her as a kid.

^ I haven't written to Ann. I think you should send her a letter.
Haha, cool.

I think Msstock wrote to her about Afton, and received a lovely, non-Dear Reader letter back. I think Afton might have written to her as well.
I think she gets less letters than she used to, and seems to like responding to her adult lifelong fans.

Hmm, maybe I will write to her then. Might be the perfect thing to do later on this very rainy (yes Ann, it really does rain in LA), Sunday afternoon.

And it's also not warm in California in the winter (at least it wasn't warm when I visited).

^Certainly NOT 80 degrees. Although last year for a few days it WAS very hot briefly in January, as in a few days. This last summer the weather, with the exception of two different few day periods was much milder than normal. A couple weeks ago, "summer" came for a bit but now it's rainy and yucky.

There. I just finished my letter to AMM. Fingers crossed she writes back! I asked her 5 "burning" BSC questions. Perhaps if any of you write her, you can ask her different things so we can (hope to) get more of our overall ponderings answered!
What I asked Ann
How is Myriah (Myriah Perkins) pronounced? Semi related to Myriah, were a lot of characters named Elizabeth and John (also fathers named John working as lawyers) due to the “real” Perkinses you were friends with?
How did Mary Anne and Kristy’s flashlight code work?
I have read on the BSC forum the rumor that originally Maureen and Ed McGill were going to be in jail. Is that true and if so what on earth happened?
One thing that I wondered about was why at least 6 families consisting of three children were 2 boys and 1 girl. Other than Nancy Dawes’ baby brother and Abby’s cousin “Eli” no male children were ever born (after the Series began) in Stoneybrook, was that a conscious, perhaps marketing decision (Series aimed at girls) or did it just happen?
Finally, why did poor Mallory seem to have the most rotten of luck? (Sunburns, bugs, failing at horseback riding). She could be whiny at times, but the poor kid could have succeeded at least once pre-Riverbend!
That's that. Yes, of course, I told her about this wonderful forum and asked if she knew of it. We shall see.

^I misread your post and thought you asked Ann why Mallory had sideburns. Heh.

LOL! Now, that's an image I don't want to conjure up: A sturdy Mallory Pike, one of those older furry steering wheel covers in red, cut in half and draped over her head for hair (that was how Mal's hair often looked to me), complete with sideburns on her cheeks. Scary! Oh yeah, and she'd probably be wearing a T shirt saying "My Parents don't let me wear sparklies! with an angry smiley face underneath."
