I always liked Janine and Charlie. Both seemed to put up with and do an awful lot for their siblings.
Even though I don't have any book passages to back me up, I always felt like Charlie felt protective of Kristy because of their father leaving when they were so young. In some ways, he kind of had to be the "man of the house" after that. But still....I think I would get tired of chaffeuring my siblings around all the time.
As for Janine, something about her was endearing. I loved The Mystery at Claudia's House, when Claudia had to teach her how to put on makeup.

^ Totally agree about Charlie. That's my impression of him too. He had to grow up too fast which might be why he "had no life". His life was as a "dad," not as a teenage boy.

bscfan, The Mystery at Claudia's House has my favorite Janine moments in it! Even when I was a kid and I believed everything the BSC said so I thought Janine was a terrible and mean, I still loved her in that book. I love the scene where Claudia is teaching her how to put on makeup and updates her wardrobe.

I think Anna was always pretty supportive, even though Abby was annoying.

I think Jeff was a good combination of annoying little brother and loving/missing his sister when they lived apart. It's hard to compare Charlie/Sam/Janine with the other kids because obviously the girls would have a different kind of relationship with an older sibling than a younger one.

As far as older sibling/younger sibling, I think Vanessa was a pretty good sister to Mallory.

I agree. They seemed to have a lot in common.

It was really hard to pick between Charlie and Janine, and seeing how they're tied I think other people think the same. I ended up picking Charlie, though. He not only helps Kristy out a lot, but is always shown as being really nice to Karen and Andrew, too.
I think Becca was the best younger sibling, and Jeff is the most realistic one.

Jeff didn't seem realistic to me. He seemed too goody-goody most of the time. I know some brothers are like Jeff, but I think most brothers are more like Adam and Jordan.

I didn't think Jeff was all that much of a goody-goody. He seemed like a bright, witty, resourceful boy. He had some anger problems before he moved back to CA, but it's natural to lose your temper if you're feeling miserable all the time. Dawn would call him in CA just to talk; they seemed very close. I can't picture, say, Mallory and Adam doing something like that if they lived apart. (But that's not a completely fair comparison, I guess, since Mal IS just only a year older than him).

That's just my opinion. Jeff seemed like a goody-goody to me, but I don't have any brothers, so maybe he was the most normal. I dunno.

I voted for Charlie! I think he was a great older brother. He was always carting around his younger siblings, and even though he sometimes teased them, I just got the sense that he cared very deeply for all of them. I love Charlie! hehe.

Jeff definitely was no goody-goody in Dawn's Family Feud. In fact, I think he was a major brat who instigated a lot of the problems in that book. Don't get me wrong, though. I really like Jeff and think he's hilarious and has some really witty things to say.

I'm not saying he was always a good-goody. But in some of Dawn's later books, he seemed that way to me. Jeff was actually one of my favorite characters, too. He just seemed unrealistic to me as a ten-year-old little brother.

I loved Charlie, he was willing to drive them anywhere for anything for nothing. I'd be thrilled if my brother was like Charlie.
