I definitely think it would be Emily. Even thought Stacey is smart, I always got the impression that math was her main strong point. I'm sure she does well in her other classes, too, but Emily strikes me as more of a perfectionist. Alan Gray getting valedictorian would be like when Screech got it in "Saved by the Bell."

I chose Mary Anne, throughout the entire series, they always said she was a straight A student. Though...I also chose Emily because the kid who was "valedictorian" for my middle school was also the val for high school.

Just curious, was anybody on here valedictorian in high school?
I was valedictorian but only by default. My best friend was supposed to be it but was killed shortly before our senior year started.

It's horrible about your best friend, Lauren. It would be neat to be valedictorian, but not if you had to be it that way.
Getting back to the question: I'm not out of high school yet, so I guess I still have a chance at being valedictorian since my lowest grade is a ninety-eight right now. Also, my middle school didn't have valedictorians, so it's kinda hard to tell.

I didn't get to be, but I don't think the valedictorians are chosed just based on grades and stuff. They consider school involvment and stuff too.

At my high school it was based purely on grades and whether you had taken honors/AP classes. I went to a tiny private school- only 24 people in my class- so there weren't that many extracurricular activities outside of sports.

I didn't get to be, but I don't think the valedictorians are chosed just based on grades and stuff. They consider school involvment and stuff too. In my school it was grades only. Everything was weighted on a sort of points system, if you got a 100 in an AP class it would be weighed more than a 100 in an advanced class and definitely more than a 100 in a "normal" class. The val's and sals (actually the entire top 10 percent of the class) in my school basically did everything possible to take every AP available and avoid the "normal" classes. Though, those people usually did a lot of school clubs and outside activities to boost their transcript anyway. So even if you did get to be a val based on grades, if you didn't do anything out side of school, no one would think you deserved it. It was pretty cutthoart actually. We were awful to each other just to get a higher class rank...

In my class, the competition near the top was intense, everyone was so close. I couldn't be bothered with that. I was content where I was because I was still really highly ranked...I took all the AP classes and had good ECs, etc. And I'm pretty sure val and sal were decided based just on GPAs.

I'd say if SHS used grades only, Pete Black or another charcter would wind up as valedictorian, Kristy possiabiliy as salutarian. Kristy would get so uber involved in activities in high school that she would try to maintain an A avarage, but not #1 material. Stacey sounds like math is the only class that she gets A's in, so she's out. MA sounds like she gets straight a's, but in high school she'd probably end up as a b student. Claudia and Abby aren't into school, and Anna is too focused on music (but would get decent grades to offset her sister.) Logan just scrapes by to stay in sports. Emily could be salutorian on second thought.

At my school the valedictorian was chosen based on extra-curricular involvement more than grades. The girl who was chosen got good grades, but I think it was more because she was very involved in sport and drama.

We voted for ours in my school, so I guess it is who everyone perceives as the class's greatest scholar/representative. Often it is whoever got into Harvard. ;D

You guys picked valedictorians? Huh? We named a valedictorian and salutatorian based solely on GPA. And my school district was weird and used a 100 percent scale rather than a 4.0 scale, and they would drag the GPA out to like the 5th decimal place so that there would never be a tie. Both of those people had to make speeches at graduation. Plus the class would vote for a class speaker to also give a speech. That person had nothing to do with grades or extra curriculars or anything, it was always just someone who would probably give a funny speech during a really long, boring ceremony.

My high school had such a huge class number it would have been nearly impossible for me to be valedictorian. I was a hard working student but I knew I wasn't even close to being it.
As far as the BSC members I think it would definately be Emily Bernstein and a second choice would be Kristy. Emily always seemed to just be smart work hard. Kristy is just so ambitious and works hard, I could see her being a close second.

^ I agree. Kristy's very competitive, also, so that might help push her to be the valedictorian.
