By car, with children in tow, it really is. True there...that's the case with any half-hour trip anywhere...I'm from a huge family, so I know. The girls and their families weren't taking the train to Washington Mall. Unless you can find evidence that says they do! Never claimed that they were taking any train to Washington Mall...they take the train to NYC. The BSC girls on their own have taken the bus to Washington Mall. One example I'm thinking of off the top of my head... The Secret Life of Mary Anne Spier. In the beginning of the book, Kristy and Mary Anne have taken the bus to Washington Mall to shop, then afterward, catch the bus to a BSC meeting. I remember because the book mentions the holiday traffic on the roads between Washington Mall and Claudia's house. No parent or older sibling has to give them any car ride. And when Mary Anne is working as an elf at Washington Mall...she takes the bus there and back without any trouble. Quote the people who are forgetting that here. One example is somebody who hinted that the BSC and SMS had "never" seen outfits like Stacey's as if Stacey had come from some far-off city hours away from Stoneybrook. And a few in the fanfic discussion threads. LOL. I donβt hold MM as the standard of beauty, and Stacey was thirteen. Of course she doesn't have movie star looks. Good, glad you see it. πππ I say Stacey looked like a typical thirteen-year-old and blended in with the rest of SMS and Stoneybrook with no "splash" upon entry. Just that...Stacey was stylish, but not prissy or vain. Nowhere have I downplayed Stacey's intelligence, so your insistence on this point is confusing. No, true, you haven't, which is great. But I say it's her math and her intelligence that capture the rest of the BSC's attention the most...nothing that should be so confusing for you. Anywho, I don't see how the size of Stoneybrook warrants so much dissection. Me either...which is why it seems so funny to me that some people keep carping on how "tiny" Stoneybrook allegedly is or how this or that could "never" happen in Stoneybrook. It's not so much anyone saying so directly, but an indirect implication. I actually think it's kind of funny. π

I'm actually in the middle of a Sweet Valley/BSC crossover fic where two different cultures collide. As soon as I complete it, I plan to post it on FF.net and the Archiveofourown website and maybe the fanfiction section here.

Yes, they definitely took the bus, but I was also thinking of Karenβs trips there in LS and the Thomas-Brewers driving. In any case, the only point I was making was thirty minutes is a fairly substantial ride to get to a mall.
It is clear from your extremely lengthy posts picking apart what others say who is doing the carping.
Plus continuing to say βsome peopleβ is rude board behavior.

Parts of NYC even does. Glad you see that the BSC girls took the bus on their own. I'm actually reading more the LS books these days and they're fascinating. I love imagining how some of the charges' lives are like now as well as the BSC ladies' lives. πππππππ In any case...I suspect that leader or follower, Dr. Stacey McGill's life is a huge success story today!

I imagine by "some people" she means me, because it was my big fish in a small pond comment that set off this conversation. I don't like passive aggressive posts, so I'll put my money where my mouth is cnj - I find your comments extremely nitpicky and uncharitable. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt but I don't get that vibe from you. In fact I said this same thing to you three months ago (in the thread about the Stoneybrook gays). Anytime I have a different opinion than you, I have to assume you'll fire back with an extremely long post that picks apart my comment line by line. And I'm not the only user on this forum who's been subjected to your methodical tearing down either - you have been rude to a lot of people.

And it's only four people here who accuse me of being "rude" because I strongly disagreed with them...not a "lot" of people. Have a great day, Oldhickory! I'd put her somewhere in the middle. She's generally pretty independent, and good being the leader of herself, but she DOES take a backseat to more forceful people. Maybe that's because she just doesn't feel the need to always be #1 in a group, and is content letting that role go to someone who DOES place a lot of value on it. So, so true, Starrynight!!! There I agree with a zillion percent...your comment is well-put. I think Stacey ends up being a big success in her life. πππ I think she's in-between, a leader if she finds no one else doing it but not generally. Agreed, Wenonah4th. I see Stacey as becoming a well dressed engineer who will read Vogue on her lunch break. There's a non fiction book - female chuvansitic pig? buying girlhood? - that talks about how some girls drop their intrest in fashion to persue other types of intrests. I see that happen with Stacey. Me too, Otempora541...I see the same thing. In my fanfiction timeline, Stacey becomes a successful engineer.
