Yeah minge (pronounced Minj) is slang for girl thingy, and someone who's minging (rhymes with singing) is..fugly! Oh, okay. I knew what minge meant, but not minging, mingers.

I think friends in general will focus on your good features when describing you. They see the best in you and although they might see some of the bad things too, they aren't going to announce them to the world. It might ruin the friendships. I can just see Stacey or Claudia describing Mallory: "Mallory is the only member of the BSC that people don't really see as pretty, but we all accept her anyway." I don't think their friendship would last long.

one thing that bugged me in Little Miss stoneybrook... and dawn was that charlotte is telling Claudia that she's not pretty and therefore shouldnt' enter the contest, and claudia thought that she WAS pretty, but that she wasn't going to tell her that because she knew that if you told someone they were pretty when they didn't think so it wouldn't change anything... i was like "um... it might still be nice to hear it from someone who isn't your parent,... it might reinforce their thinking that they ARE ugly..or whatever." Charlotte wasn't the type to say it for attention, she really didn't think she was. that bugged me.

^ Agree. It's always nice for anyone to hear they are pretty. ;D Whether or not it changes their mind, it still feels good for someone else to say it. I missed that part in the book. Must have just chosen to ignore it. ;D

I also agree blossom! It is always nice to hear that you look pretty from someone other than family. I remember that part and it also bothered me. Poor Charlotte, she probably thought that she was never going to be pretty, when in fact almost every one of the babysitters thought she was very pretty.

Stoneybrook seems to be short of the facially challenged. I dont think i've read of an ugly kid in the bsc books at all. All the baby-sitters are either pretty/beautiful/stunning/cute/Handsome. In the school there appears to be no ugly kids either. Everytime a boy fancies stace/claud or dawn, they are always, always described as cute/hot/ gorgeous. Why is there never a time that an ugly kid likes them? Most of the girls in the school seem to be model gorgeous as well. I have that impression too even though I don't remember the books actually explicitly coming out and saying that. But I think that opinion comes from looking at the pics, and in general, I associate the "good looking" pics with the person and discard the bad looking pics in my mind and think those ones cannot possibly be what they look like.

I never thought I was pretty growing up, so it was nice (and is still nice!) to be complimented by somebody other than family.

^ I agree about that too. ;D I tended to think my friends were pretty no matter what and focused on their postives, too, and I think that's what the BSC does. I like that. ;D
