That's so cute! Can a dog really do that?

I wonder how they did train him (or her ;D). Did the books ever say how they trained Carrot?

i imagine you teach it the same way you'd teach any other trick. in carrot's case, i think perhaps it was something he did naturally and then they started using a command.

^ Okay. Probably a bit similar to training a horse. ;D Or do they use treats a lot to train dogs? I'm clueless about dogs. ;D

Treats work, also positive reinforcement -- "Good dog" etc. The fact that dogs respond well to things like petting and voice commands makes them easier to train then, say, a cat. (I trained my cat to do a few things, but it's far easier to work with dogs).

^ Thanks. I figured treats might be more effective with a dog than anything. ;D

^ They are, but, it's a bad habit to get into. I actually trained our old rabbit to do something similar to saying prayers. Only it was less praying and more standing on his hindlegs to get the piece of fruit that I held just out of his reach. And he didn't really ever do it on command.

Ooh,that's really cute!!! I really like dogs,I have one,but I don't think she can do that. ;D That is very cute, Greer. Where is that by the way? When my friend's dog gets up like that he pees. Maybe that's in Japan. LOL at your dog. ;D

^ They are, but, it's a bad habit to get into. That's actually why I don't use them for horses. ;D I won't even give my horses treats from my hand and can't stand it when other people want to because it encourages them to nip.... I think that's why that kind of thing with "horse lovers" bugs me when they do it in books. ;D
