Yeah, it would have been cool if Abby came in earlier, if only for the fact I have no childhood memories of Abby and so I don't feel so attached to her. One of my main enjoyments of rereading the BSC as an adult is bringing up all my childhood memories of the BSC girls as I reread the books. These were books I thought about a lot even after I stopped reading them at about age 14. I have so many good memories of the BSC, it's disappointing Abby isn't in any of them.

Out of all the BSC books I never read as a child and am reading for the first time as a adult, only the California Diaries have made a big impact on me. I'll pay retail prices for the CD series, which in Australia comes to about $12.50 per book (whereas, the other BSC books, I won't pay over $2.50) What's the highest price anyone's ever paid for a BSC book?

That's not too bad considering how rare Graduation Day is. Nice find.

I bought mine at the Ann Arbor reuse center for $.50. I was so excited that day. My friends were so embarrassed that I spent $24 on BSC books. (they were all $.50)

Wow, that's awesome! BSC books are kind of hard to find where I live.

Wow, that's awesome! BSC books are kind of hard to find where I live. Are you in America? In Australia BSC books are everywhere. I went to a local secondhand bookshop last week, and the owner had got in a boxfull, at least 100 books.

Yeah, but the older ones are still a bit rare. I think I paid about $15 for BSC in the USA, because, try as I did, I could not find it anywhere in Aust! So i bought it from the US, and most of that was shipping. Then I got European Vacation kinda cheap, and Graduation Day kinda cheap too. I've also found a few gems in the later BSC for around $4 each.
Don't worry Muse, the bookfest should have a TON of cheap BSC, last time I got heaps of LS for like $10.

in the usa early books are plentiful; rarer, older books are harder to find. i think most of them only had one print run, and i'd imagine that people who were still reading the bsc then are more loath to get rid of them.

When Mary Anne's house burned down. Couldn't they have come up with another plot like graduation? I'm not talking about the Friends Forever Series. Just one last book about graduation. Poor Mary Anne!

For me the series jumped when Dawn moved back to CA the first time. I had already been getting bored with the series overall and that kind of did it for me. I read the next book (Jessi and the Bad Baby-Sitter) and didn't care for it at all. I didn't like Kristy's exaggerated craziness about the club. Mallory's mono was starting in this book and Kristy said something about how if they had to close up shop for a few weeks they might as well close up for good, because everyone would find other sitters. Oh, really? So all those times the whole club went on two-week vacations, people didn't find other sitters then? I'm sure everyone already had other sitters, Kristy - for those times they wanted to stay out past 10 PM!

I just finished that book last night, and you raise such a good point! If people will hold out for a month in Jessi's wish, they'll surely understand that Dawn left and Mal is sick. Plus, Wendy was actually not a bad baby-sitter, she just didn't like the rules. It was mentioned she was actually pretty good with kids. I'm actually pretty pyched now I'm reading books I haven't read as much before

That does raise an inconsistency from early in the series, about what happens when the BSC aren't able to provide a sitter. They're so worried about the Agency, but they obviously aren't all available all the rest of the time.
