My god, the BSC did have it's erm...eyebrow raising moments. lol. My favourites are: 1)Logan's chapter in 'Baby-sitters club remembers' where he goes something like: 'One minute I was standing on the Claudia kishi's front porch, she appeared minutes later and... led me upstairs to her bedroom'. There was another one one that refers to both Claudia and Mary Anne in 'Logan likes mary-anne' and she goes :' I don't know about Claudia, I've not had boys been in my bedroom- a boy that matters anyway(kristy's little brother doesn't count). It's official! Claudia's a tart. lol! And people talk about Stacey's conquests. Serious though. Didn't claudia's parents not have any rules regarding boys in the house. The parents weren't always home. Stacey in Graduation Day- " You don't have to be married to have a baby" I'm pretty sure there are quite a few more that I'll have to think of. There's a pretty saucy scene in 'Kristy+Bart=?'

Didn't Logan describe Stacey and Claudia as "pretty sexy" or something?

I was shocked when I read that! In a BSC book!
The examples I can think of are all extremely mild, but remember - this IS the BSC!
- the end of MA + 2 Many Babies - The following week we would start a new course - health. No one was very interested in it, but we all had to take it so complaining was no good(Miles tried to look on the bright side; "Isn't sex education part of health?" Logan laughed. I blushedI
- MA also commented that Jessi's new pierced ears were "Pretty sexy"
I remember in an early MA book, she made a comment about her father's not being as strict, but then commenting "Dad is still Dad. He won't allow Logan in the house when he's not home"
Is that really such an unreasonable, eye-rollingly strict rule for a parent to have when their daughter is 13? Considering I never had boyfriends at 13 and certainly wouldn't have been interested in having males in the home at that age, I don't really know.
I remember Stacey saying that her mum had a rule that Robert was allowed in the house without parental supervision provided he and Stacey stayed in the kitchen/living room.
Flawed rule for two reasons. One, how could Stacey's mum ensure that the rule was followed (MA's dad couldn't have been sure either, I guess) and two, if Stacey and Robert wanted to get up to "no good", couldn't they have done it in the living room?

Maybe it had to do with the fact that if they were in the kitchen/living room, Mrs. McGill could show up unexpectedly at any time and immediately see what they were doing, and if they were in the bedroom she would know that they were up to no good. I guess.

Still, if Mrs McGill was working, Stacey would know what time to expect her home. And if she arrived home unexpectedly, she could just as easily have "surprised" Stacey and Robert in the bedroom. In fact, they'd be less likely to hear Mrs McGill arrive home if they were locked away in the bedroom and therefore wouldn't be able to make themselves "decent" before she came inside ;D
Giving your teenage kids the privilege of allowing opposite sex visitors to enter the house at ALL unsupervised needs to be done with the knowledge that "indecent" activities might occur if the couple is that way inclined. A half-assed "stick to the kitchen/living room" rule isn't likely to achieve much.
Knowing the BSC, however, Stacey would've had enough respect for her mum to not "get up to no good" in the family home.

Haha, I felt the same way when I first read it. Not like I hadn't heard/read ... other things. It seemed so racy for the BSC. I remember feeling the same way when reading some of the California Diaries scenes.

Wasn't Mrs McGill's rule that Stacey and Robert had to stay in the kitchen? She hada new computer game that she wanted to show Robert, and Robert was worried because the computer was in the living room. So Stacey called her mum and got permission to venture out of the kitchen... And then the spent a few hours playing Marvel in the Mist, and would've played longer if she didn't have to go to a BSC meeting. I always thought that was strange... You can just as easily have sex on a kitchen bench

Actually, I think you may be right!
Considering Stacey was supposed to be the slightly-more-rebellious bad girl of the group, she was SUCH a goody-goody. Not that she should be having sex at 13. But come on. Calling her mum to ask permission to venture out of the kitchen so she could show Robert a computer game?

I remember feeling the same way when reading some of the California Diaries scenes. The California Diaries were meant for an older audience though... on my books at least, on the BSC it says "RL 4" and the California Diaries read "RL 7." (or is it 6? Anyways, it's higher than bsc.)

Didn't logan also rip off his shirt in Mary-anne's house when they were painting? 'Mary anne and the secret in the attic'.
I thought boys weren't allowed in the house when an adult isn't present or are we meant to have forgotten this.
Yeah, the parents really wouldn't know if a blokes been in the house. I remember when I used to invite blokes back when I was 15- It was strictly innocent, people. I always knew when my mum was coming back.

Maybe boys were allowed in the house when the other girls were there, or something. I remember that scene, too, I loved it. Mary Anne was so shy and I think she got Logan one of her dad's shirts right away

Oh, that scene was awesome. Logan's all shirtless, tousled and covered in paint, and some woman Mary Anne thinks is a social worker comes to the door so Mary Anne blurts out that her father isn't home.
