LOL, where does the Michael Jackson reference come up??
The Beatles are mentioned more than any other band (save U4ME), but Mary Anne's mom attended a Rolling Stones concert (she has a left-over ticket stub in Mary Anne's Portrait Collection). Alan calls Kristy Darth Maul in Stacey's Movie. And, um, I believe Phil Collins is mentioned somewhere..

^ They see a michael jackson 3d thing at epcot or disney. (I saw that!!! I'm so old). There is at least one other mention though.
There are also mentions of rollerblades and keanu reeves. And Wynona Rider.

I remember reading Stacey and the Missing Ring and feeling really weird when Stacey's mum was saying how sexy Cary Grant was and Stacey was like "Err no, he's not" and wouldn't watch the movie 'Holiday' because it was in black and white... I felt weird because I like Cary Grant and love black and white movies ;D Eventually they rented out 'Gone With The Wind' (another popular Ann referance) and Stacey was like "Yay it's in colour!" Meh, then again my friends tease me for my love of black and white films!

I thought Cam Geary was a real movie star. I think I even told my friends I really liked him. The reason why I was confused about this was because "The Ghost at Dawn's House" mentioned Sixteen Candles and Cam Geary as two of Mary Anne's favorite things. So I thought he was in that movie.

I don't remember which book it was in exactly but I remember a "Home alone" and Macaulay Culkin reference. I thought that was cool because I was obsessed with those movies.

I remember the Ninja Turtles being mentioned in one book - I think it was Dawn and the Big Sleepover. I was so excited - I loved that show as a kid ;D

I think Claudia did the Macaulay Culkin Home Alone face slap/scream in Mary Anne's Make-Over when Mary Anne showed everyone the picture of the haircut she wanted.

Oh yeah! That is what it was! Didn't she slap her face and scream " not our Mary Anne" or something to that effect?

^ I had forgotten that. ;D I do remember some of the movie references as they tended to jump out at me because they didn't seem very frequent. Not like I Love Lucy or the Wizard of Oz. ;D

In the Winter Vacation SS, when they're all on the bus and on the way to the lodge, Kristy says that she has the theme to Gilligan's Island stuck in her head lol. ;D

^ Speaking of that book, I liked how they were singing Henry the Eighth. I had to laugh because my mom was a Herman's Hermits fan when she was younger and starts singing that song every time someone mentions the name Henry VIII.

I remember a Gilligan's Island reference in another book where Mary Anne is babysitting Jamie.
