Overall I think all the girls look really good, pretty much everyone looks great. I agree that everyone looks great! Some of their outfits are questionable, but again, it was the early 90s. I agree that some of Mal's outfit looks pretty chic for her but that old lady shawl throws it off, haha.

I think their leggings and boots pass for being "in" by current fashion standards; I feel like I see that combo all over the place.

^I've always loved that combo and am glad it endures Yes, yes he does.

Kristy's and Pete's ugly expressions annoy me on the cover.
Stacey's outfit is always the thing that stands out for me the most on the cover. When I was around 5 or 6, I had a matching shorts and top outfit that looked very much like what Stacey is wearing, except that the top had the same polka dot print as the shorts, and I think the cuffs were white. I loved that outfit (can't say I would have worn it when I was 13, though), so seeing something so similar brings me a positive association.

I also like Stacey's shorts with two shades of blue. What jumped out for me is the 0's in the background made me think of a gas station price sign or an old fashioned cash register.

I think their heads all look nice. The one guy kinda looks like he's in a swimming suit and one of Dawn's denim shirts. Stacey's uneven socks bother me. One is clearly cuffed and the other not. The cowboys and Indians pinball machine behind them is an interesting choice. I guess racism only mattered when one of the group members were being targeted.

Would that have been considered racist at the time? I remember having stuff like feather headdresses to play with at preschool.

I don't know. I live in an area with a high Native American population. I remember doing a class protest of Columbus Day in 1993. I feel like if Jessi had been Native American then she would have been offended by the machine. (Because she's Jessi.)

I noticed the Cowboys and Indians pinball game too. I've never read Claudia and the First Thanksgiving, but figured it probably had to do partly with Native Americans and racism. I hadn't noticed Stacey's socks. I bet it was a deliberate fashion choice. One cuffed sock must be dibble or something.

^Lol, I can't believe I did not realize it was a pinball machine s opposed to some thrown in drawing. Sorry about that.
I never noticed the socks either but did wonder why Pete? is wearing (maybe) dressier shoes.

The Native American tribe in our area hasn't actually lived here for 200 years. I think now, it would absolutely not be okay at the schools I went to, but in the late 80s and early 90s we weren't talking about it yet.

I missed the socks while I was looking at the picture the first time, but once I saw them I couldn't unsee them. It's just so unusual.
My high school mascot was the Indian, and one year there was a cowboys vs Indians spirit day and it was pretty offensive. It was exactly what you would expect from 15 year old boys when they are told to dress silly. This was tops 10 years ago.
