Some of the early mysteries are okay. Like Stacey and the Missing Ring and (even though it's totally obvious) The Mystery at Claudia's House. Even Stacey and the Mystery at the Empty House is perfectly plausible. But whenever they start working with the police? Or getting into actually life-threatening situations? That's when it's "WHAT?"

^ I'm not a big fan of the mysteries, but I kind of like Jessi and the Jewel Thieves for that reason. It's totally plausible that a couple of overly imaginative kids get carried away with something that turns out to be so silly.

^I like it for that reason too. But I'm a total fan of the mysteries.

Not a big fan of the mysteries either...they were so implausible and silly. That being said, there were a couple of mysteries that I liked...but they are few and far between. I'm not even a huge fan of the early mysteries, but at least they're a little more believable.

My unpopular opinion: the use of feminism in the books doesn't really bother me *Shrug*

^It doesn't usually bother me, either. I also don't usually mind the typed-out accents.
I like quite a lot of the mysteries as individual books, but even when I was 11 or so and the mystery series first came out, I didn't like the overall idea of it. The implausibility of them solving so many mysteries and helping the police bugged me.

the typed out accents didn't bother me either... it just helped illustrate how they sounded...and helps give the character a "voice" whereas the other accents might be how you talk.

My unpopular opinion: the use of feminism in the books doesn't really bother me *Shrug* Me either...I actually quite liked it. Is this an unpopular opinion? Maybe not an unpopular opinion, but I would have liked to replace Dawn with Shannon Kilbourne for good. I would have really loved to see Shannon as more of a regular. Admittedly, I haven't read a lot of the later books, but know she replaced Dawn in the interim....it would have just been cool for her to have replaced Dawn for the long term. I really liked Shannon and thought she was an interesting character. Much more so than Logan!

^ Yes, it would have been interesting to hear more from Shannon's point of view!
Not sure if this was said, but Dawn's crusades against meat/feminism/pollution and stuff never bothered me, really. I think in Starring the BSC I was getting a tiny bit annoyed with it, but mostly not.

I don't think the lack of Shannon books in the regular series when she was an official member is an unpopular opinion. Anytime that comes up in conversation whether on LJ or someone's blog, it seems everyone agrees that Shannon got ripped off. Plus, their family is so quietly dysfunctional, it would have really been interesting to know more about them.
Dawn... could just take things too far. Starring the BSC. Dawn Saves the Planet. She went too far. She still needs to learn moderation. Like, with boys. Instead of changing her entire attitude and look, in Dawn's Big Date, she could have just bought a few new items, played around with finding the right makeup for her, done her hair in the fake-perms, and still been herself. She never seemed to know when to stop.

^Especially since Dawn already supposedly learned her lesson about changing herself for a boy in Dawn and the Older Boy, but then she went and did it again!
