Oh yeah all the bfs are totally unrealistic. Not necessarily that they GET bfs, but the way the guys act... like they're always going on actual dates and the guys act so much more mature than 13 year olds (in general).

^Alan Gray didn't act like any 13-year-old boy I knew when I was in the eighth grade, either. Though he was obviously less mature than the rest of the boys in the BSC universe, I was surprised he was popular enough to turn the entire school against Tess Swinhart in Stacey's Secret Friend.

I thought that it was because of his class clown status.

I think them winning the lottery and then going to California is one of the most unrealistic things EVER. Also, I totally agree about the Krushers and the Bashers being unrealistic. I mean, Stoneybrook is a small town, right? And they do have Little League, so why would they have TWO other baseball teams? I never understood why the Bashers weren't in Little League anyway. Was that ever explained?
Anyway, the Krushers seems like something that, in real life, Kristy would have thought up on a boring Saturday, but it would have quickly fallen apart with people not showing up to practice and nobody really giving a crap about it.

^Their lottery winnings weren't even taxed! They weren't even trying to be realistic with that one.
ETA: In contrast, when Karen won a sweepstakes for a trip to Bermuda, she totally got called out on being under 18, and had to forfeit the prize. The contest people were such meanie-mos!

What do you think is the most unrealistic aspect of life in BSC land? For me, it's the fact that 13 year olds have no problem getting actual, paying jobs in stores restaurants, ect. Even Laine, in NY, got a "real" job. Ugh, I hated that. When Laine's talking about her job with the others, she's all "Don't you guys want actual jobs with a salary and a paycheck you can put in the bank?" Someone should have said "Um, no, because we are 13 YEARS OLD."

Another thing about their lotto winnings was that it was exactly $10 000. Aren't lotto wins normally not so even?

I think that it depends, but probably not.

Well they got a smaller prize for not matching all the #s, they got 5 out of 6 or something right? So that prize might be an even number no matter what, I'm not sure.

The prize would be, but yeah, you're right, prizes over a certain amount are taxed, so the actual win wouldn't be likely to be such a nice number. Google led me to this:

I never understood why the Bashers weren't in Little League anyway. Was that ever explained? I think I remember Kristy (probably) saying in one of her books that she didn't really know why the Bashers weren't in Little League, because they easily could have been. So...that was pretty much tone only explanation we got.

I'll admit I have a soft spot for Laine, but I wouldn't fault her for that. It's better than growing up and finding you're Paris Hilton.

And what about those Short Takes classes? We never had anything that cool in middle school. We had a few classes like art and communications that went for a quarter each but that's it. The only choice we had was what kind of music to take and between French and Spanish.
