I never made the comparison between the bizzer signs and Friends, but that is funny. I also am a huge Friends fanatic and that is one of my favorite moments.

So Marnie is supposed to be allergic to chocolate. In the earlier chapters of this book it says Marnie was eating M&M's. Oops!

An inconsistancy right in the book Doesn't surprise me. This is one of my favorite books and I'm planning on reading it after getting home from vacation in May. Now I will have to look for this as I am picturing Marnie with her "ham face" covered in chocolate

That's weird, I actually am kind of surprised about that inconsistency. One because it's right IN the book, and two because you'd think that so early on in the series they would have been a little more diligent with their editing.

I agree that is surprising! They make a pretty big deal of her being allergic too...

I'm more surprised no one's caught it before. Nice catch, lyricalangel.

Thanks. I think it was the first time Dawn baby-sat for them. When they were cleaning she found M&M's and started eating them. It says Dawn stopped her after she noticed. Maybe she didn't eat very many. She survived. LOL. Aln I'm laughing picturing the chocolate ham face.

I was dreaming about the chocolate covered ham all night! I love the Barrett kids but will never picture Marnie the same again (thanks to myself and lyricalangel and mckay:D). Now I'll have to find a book that talks about Marnie making the "ham face"

I figured Marnie was eating them regardless of her allergies - after all, a toddler isn't going to think about food allergies. A couple of them probably wouldn't have hurt her - Mallory probably just overreacted when she acted like the piece of brownie would kill her.

I would tend to agree with Lyricalangel's first post that it was more a matter of quantity. Also agree that Marnie wouldn't have known better but don't really think Mal was overreacting. Know from personal experience how serious allergies can be.

I had to go back and reread the chapter where it was mentioned just to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me.

Well, in BSC-land, even one taste of a sweet will practically send Stacey into a diabetic coma, so I could imagine in their world, even the SMELL of chocolate would be hazardous to Marnie, lol. Speaking of Marnie, my bosses step daughter is named Marnie. Never thought I'd know of a real person with that name!

I don't really think Mal was overreacting, either. A child's food allergy doesn't have to be fatal for you to think it's not a good idea for them to eat that food.
