Supprazz: Stacey mentions at one point in the book "I was too embarassed to admit [my feelings for Wes] to Mom" so I don't think she ever told her mother.

After reading "Karen's Bunny," I wanted another spring-y book with some cute animal antics and this was it. I skipped over all the Wes parts and just read about Elvira. She really was cute but I admit to still not understanding how everyone in the neighborhood was smitten and how that appeal lasted throughout the series. But then, good for Elvira. It is always so funny to read when Stacey is wondering just who Elvira is and Mrs. Stone did seem to really love her baby goat. Jamie as always was so cute and so very enthusiastic about his new goat friend and Marnie even spoke and said "Doat." My very favorite moment will always be Buddy cradling Elvira and singing "Hush Little Elvira" to her, that image in my mind is just so sweet!

Stacey's dress sounds lovely but not very Stacey-like. Much more MA or Dawn, maybe Mal.

What was her dress like? Zoar, you're certainly in the minority wanting to read about Elvira over the romance parts but I think the main plot of this one is pretty lame and probably would want to read about goats too lol.

LOL, Boo Boo. I haven't read this book in ages, or at least since last April , and will do so as it gets closer to Spring. I do think Elvira was over done with everyone and everything immediately oohing and aahing over her but it was also sweet and something different. I think I just was truly touched by Buddy singing to her and if I had been there probaby would have been awwing all over. I also liked when Elvira insisted on joining Adam under the slide in the Pikes billy goat play. I have shared that when I was in 10th grade I had a huge crush on my Biology teacher, I thought he was Wes-like gorgeous. For the next rwo years I was his TA and I still had the crush but not the complete teenage infatuation. I did tell him sometime before I graduated that I did admire his environmental views and he knew I thought of him as a friend. He was also someone I was able to talk to a few times after my Grandpa went to be with Jesus so very suddenly my 10th grade year. Unlike Wes, at least to me, "my Wes," wasn't the best of teachers and some of his opinions that he made public in terms of women and girls left a lot to be desired. I think for me he was the first younger male teacher I had ever had, maybe the same was with Stacey and Wes and he did take a group of us to Yosemite one spring break. There were different older (but younger) than my Grandma women I bonded with as friends over my growing up years and I think the biology teacher was the first man I was hoping would fill that role for me, plus since he was a man and also handsome I did have the teen crush, too. LOL and a hug, that is so funny, Boo Boo, that you, "think the main plot of this one is pretty lame and probably would want to read about goats too lol."

The dress was flowy and flowery and peasant-like, sort of.

I don't think it sounded peasant-like.

Yeah, flowery doesn't sound like her.

The dress didn't fit Stacey's style, but I thought it made a really nice dress for a spring dance.

Maybe Stacey was hoping to impress Wes with her dress? (There's a lot of rhyming in that sentence...no, Vanessa Pike has NOT taken over my account and started posting on my behalf! )

I tend to particularly enjoy the books that take place at the end of a school year or during the summer (then I can pretend that the kids aren't still not-aging) and this book I thought captured well the excitement of the end of school.

Just finished reading this one and have to say that the Elvira storyline is (in my opinion) the worst plot/subplot (along with the baby parade) in any BSC book. What parent in their right mind would allow their babysitter to bring a baby goat into their house??!! I enjoyed this book otherwise

Really what is it with Stacey and older guys? Why would she'd think he'd even go out with a kid ? She's 13 he's twenty six. She's living in dream world!

I thought I was the only one who noticed that! Ha! I was embarrassed for Stacey in this book. Some scenes were almost difficult to read, particularly when she gave Wes that poem *cringes* Good thing Wes wasn't a perve, because Stacey was shameless. At least Mallory never had a crush on a older guy. Mal is not the loser Stacey is.
