In the US i don't see it just on campuses, but everywhere. Only The Dude can get away with wearing his robe to Ralph's! Put on a pair of jeans, please.

I always thought it was extremely disrespectful to the professors, especially when I was going to a private college. Had our grandmothers (many of whom did go to that college) seen how a lot of the girls were dressed for class they'd be horrified. And if the college president should come in! Which she did from time to time. I wasn't on the other end of the spectrum, with blow-dried hair and wearing makeup every day, but I certainly put on presentable clothes for class. But from time to time, like Jessi, I'd have a leotard on underneath, or come with wet hair from swimming over lunch time!

My high school often had Pajama Days for a fundraiser, and it always made a ton of money. I never got the appeal either, though. In college I don't see that many people wearing pajamas. I wonder if it's because a lot of us are commuters.

I hated how kids would come to school in pajamas other times, both in high school and college. Just get dressed! Ugh, I hate that too. I see a lot of people on my college campus (I also go to a commuter school) wearing a sweatshirt and PJ pants and I just can't stand that. To me, it makes me feel like I do when I'm sick and don't want to get dressed and it also looks like you don't care about what you look like. I'd much rather put on jeans and a decent shirt for class. I hardly even wear sweats around my house; I just put on flannel PJ pants.

I feel that if I don't get dressed that it's almost like I'm sick--I'm so lazy and by the end of the day when it's time to go to bed I feel grungy because I've been to bed in those PJ's the night before, wore them all day, and then have to wear them again to bed.

Well, ew. Even when I am sick I change into different pj-type clothes during the day. Pajamas smell a certain way that I don't want on me all day long.

Pajama day was one of the few spirit days I actually liked in school. I would just wear pj bottoms and a sweatshirt but some people went all out and had the flannel pj's with fuzzy slippers and carried teddy bears and stuff. It was cute.
I'm one of the lazy people who wears sweat pants and sweatshirts, no makeup, etc. and I even I think it's gross to wear your pajama pants to school. Granted, pj's might actually be better than some of the fashions I've seen on campus...

I had this one friend and she went around asking all the girls "Do you wear your hair like that to bed?" And most of us didn't so she'd ask us why we were wearing it during PJ day like that. It was really annoying.

My roommate and I tend to spent 90% of our weekends unshowered and in our PJs. but we don't ever leave the house like that. We do have some standards.

^ Haha, Penny, I know how that goes! On the days when I don't have to leave to house, I bum around in my yoga pants and a comfy shirt or a sweater. But I'm one of those people who can't stand to wear sweats/pjs outside of my apartment. Even if I haven't been outside all day and I need to go to the corner store to get milk, I'll change into jeans and a nice top. It bugs me when people can't bothered to wear real clothes outside of the house. That happens a lot in my university town and it's gross. Everyone looks so skeezy.
As for the book, I used to love it. But that was when I was a kid and loved everything BSC. Now, I read for it for laughs, because it's so ridiculous. All this brew-ha-ha over school spirit? I guess it does happen in real life, but seriously. People writing "Go back to California" on her locker and snapping rubber bands at Dawn because she doesn't want to wear yellow or her pjs to school? Where are the adults in this book? Getting into shouting matches at the town hall meeting, I guess.

When I don't work or have anywhere to go I admit I spend most of the day in my pjs. Although if I have to go anywhere I just throw on jeans over my pjs. Oddly enough it's very comfy.

Because I'm a homemaker, I don't want to fall into either extreme viewpoint of homemakers- neither the everything-immaculate June Cleaver nor the bumming around do-nothing in sloppy clothes. Therefore I always get dressed, including my shoes, rather than staying in pajamas during the day. It really makes a mental shift for me.

Even on days when I'm home all day, I have to at least put on jeans and a nice t-shirt. I can't stand going around all day in pj's or sweats unless I'm really sick and stuck in bed.

I was raised with the concepts of "home" clothes and "street" clothes, so I'll change my clothes when I leave and come back. I also always change my shoes for slippers. These things really save on wear and tear on your home and your wardrobe.
I don't wear pajamas either; i hate the way clothes feel when I wake up. I definitely would not have taken pajama day to mean what I really wear when I sleep!

I don't wear pj's much though I have them. I either sleep in sweat pants and sweatshirts, or in boxers and tank tops.
