Read this over the weekend... how boring. I don't understand how the house gets thrown into SUCH chaos, I mean there's really only Emily and maybe Andrew who need the constant supervision. Kristy and her brothers are for some reason in charge of finding the kids' homework before they go to school. WTF? Maybe it's in their backpacks?
And the whole Nannie moving out thing... so stupid. She says she's moving out and supposedly it's this big upset, but that certainly wasn't developed much, cause she moves out on the NEXT PAGE. lol.
I just don't understand why it takes sooooo many people to keep the Thomas-Brewer household running. Everyone from Karen on up should be able to basically take care of their own crap.

I don't understand why Nannie was so upset about no longer being treated like a servant. It's about d*mn time Watson took care of his own kids.

Yeah, i never really thought about it before. I don't see WHY Nannie feels the need to be treated like a slave and take care of a bunch of kids for their lazy parents! I would figure that at least Charlie, Sam, and Kristy could take care of themselves completely(I mean, Kristy IS the president of the BSC), and help with the younger kids EASILY!

Nannie always rubbed me the wrong way. Everyone thought she was so awesome because she bowled and drove a pink piece of junk? Yeah, okay.

^ total word.
I thought it was weird how she moved in with the Brewer/Thomas family in order to take care of Emily. A supposedly hip, cool granny with an awesome social life willing to devote her golden years to full time childcare of her daughter's adopted child, particularly when the child's father is a REAL LIVE MILLIONAIRE!! All part of the Stoneybrook community, but not very realistic. Particularly since prior to that, she didn't seem particularly close to the family. Just saw them on special occasions, etc.

I've always wondered why, much like Charlie's Junk Bucket, Watson and Elizabeth allow their children to ride in that death trap.

^IMO, the Junk Bucket was even weirder, because no one seemed to care that the BSC were always piling into it like clowns.

Nannie bugs me. She is supposed to be so cool and hip and active, but other than bowling what does she really do? I think I'd be more embarrassed than impressed by her car.

She gardens with Watson. She walks on the wild side, that's for sure.
It bugs me that Nannie never got a name. She's always just "Nannie". No one ever even calls her "Mrs. Something-or-Other".

Did either of her parents spend time with her? I know Ann's a feminist and all, but after adopting a child, why would Elizabeth want to race back to her demanding full time career when it's obviously not from financial necessity? Emily seemed more like Nannie's daughter than Watson's and Elizabeth's. Doesn't Ann realise that appreciation of motherhood is also a feminist concept? Is it realistic that Charlie was driving such a sh*theap anyway, considering his stepfather was a millionaire? I know he wasn't Watson's biological son, but still. Most kids of rich parents I know have had brand-spanking new cars bought for them the day they turned 18 ( ) or either a LOT of help buying a decent second hand one. Perhaps Elizabeth wanted Charlie to buy his own car to build character or something, but then how did Charlie afford it? Did he have a job other than Kristy's BSC driver? Hmmm, maybe that explains it. Three dollars a week doesn't go very far.

I feel like in beginning of the marriage the money situation is awkward, like Kristy said she wouldn't ask Watson to buy her a VCR. But as the series progressed the family grew closer and especially given the total absence of Patrick in the kids' lives the "step" in "stepfather" faded to the point that while Kristy didn't call him "Dad," Watson did call her his daughter and was even planning on financing part of Charlie's future college education. So maybe later in the series Watson would have bought him a sweet car, but in the beginning of the marriage that's a lot to ask, I guess. Watson also didn't have pool or tennis courts; despite lavish vacations and a fancy house, he seemed to steer clear of anything terribly ostentatious.

On the Nannie front: I can't help wondering why she moved in to help the millionaires with Emily Michelle when everyone always goes on and on about the struggles Elizabeth faced raising her four kids alone and on a budget. It seems she would have loads more helpful then -- even if she couldn't move in because of space, she could have helped with after-school David Michael, etc. I mean, it was only "a year ago"!
