What’s that container or bottle flying through the air?

I'm thinking that it's a syrup container. I see the letters UP on the wrapper. Perhaps it could be the soda 7UP but I'm leaning towards syrup.

If you zoom in on it then it looks like a bottle of maybe cough syrup. It has a spoon on top and I think a thermometer behind it. I thought it was a fire extinguisher until I enlarged it.

Wow you’re right. I see the spoon and “up.” I love how they are referencing plot points!

I've always liked this one. Somehow, though, I totally forgot about Charlotte staying over at the McGills. I liked that subplot. It's realistic that Charlotte wouldn't actually be that excited about staying several nights. I didn't like to sleep anywhere but home as a kid either, and I HATED having to be anywhere but my bed when I was sick (well, I still do, but it's even worse for kids).
This book is sort of weird, though. They're all drawn to the house and obsessed with it, get nightmares, and Stacey straight up hallucinates during the demolition. Wtf?! It does make it creepier than the other mystery books in the series (not the actual mysteries. You know what I mean). I remember this one freaking me out a bit when I was younger. I kind of liked it for that, though, haha, even though I was too chicken to watch an actual horror movie. Speaking of horror movies, two are referenced in this book, and AMM is a horror fan! It's cool to see references that AREN'T I Love Lucy.
So, I noticed a trend with all the mystery/ "spooky" books up until this point (I can't help but notice patternswhile binging the series), and it's honestly getting really old. In each one, Kristy has a sitting job at her own house and is creeped out because of whatever mystery they're involved in, and Karen makes it worse with the Ben Brewer crap. I get Karen's obsession with the supposed haunting, but I just don't see why it's necessary for each one and it's not as entertaining as I think AMM thinks it is. Luckily, it takes maybe 5 minutes to read a chapter lol, and this particular job did contribute to the main plot, but still! Maybe it was meant to be a running gag?
I kind of like that this one ended with unanswered questions.

I hated the ending! They didn't solve anything, and the whole mysterious "I guess we'll never know" stuff doesn't vibe with this series. None of the other regular series mysteries took this approach.

That's fair. I do think the Jared Mullray mystery was never really solved, though. Maybe they wanted to leave it open-ended for kids who believed in the paranormal, and those who didn't could say Stacey's imagination ran away with her. I can't really think of another reason. The hallucination part is SO weird, especially for the BSC. I wanted to see the other BSCers reaction to it, but her not wanting them to think she's crazy is relatable.
