I hear you. Just the parts you’re referring to sound so obnoxious lol. Peter’s style could get tedious. Kristy didn’t need to be that rude about a rival club that is clear across the country. 11 year olds are hitting puberty and do not suddenly become star caretakers once they enter middle school. Mal and Jessi are clear anomalies.

Mal and Jessi are clear anomalies. I didn't mention this in my review, but I swear that Kristy has called for a vote before in previous books. I'm not sure what the difference is tbh. Why was she my favorite as a kid lol. I think Lerangis tries too hard. He writes some of the characters well (I think he writes Sunny, Ducky, and Amalia well, along with Claudia for the most part), but I really can't stand how he writes Kristy, Jessi, and Dawn. Dawn actually isn't too bad in this book aside from some obnoxious food comments in the beginning. I can see how Jessi and Mal might be anomalies given their upbringing. Mal being the oldest of 8 and Jessi helping Squirt when he had colic, for example. The triplets seem years younger than they are sometimes... I feel like the Pikes put so much responsibility on poor Mal, and like zero on the triplets. Starting to reconsider my overall positive opinion of the Pike parents ngl (aside from the Island Adventure fiasco, I like the Ramsey parents).

The triplets and Jeff were just too immature to be baby sitters. Plus they'd lose interest in it after awhile. They are just ten years old.
