^ I think you're right but for some reason, I think I just read about this in Mystery Admirer. Did it happen in this book, too? (Wouldn't be surprised if they reused something like that. ;D)

^ Oh was it? I don't remember which subplot went with what book. Yeah, it was probably Buddy. Sorry about that.

The title of this thread is making me think of a cat wearing a police officer's hat.

(Wouldn't be surprised if they reused something like that. ;D) Nah they didn't reuse it. The Buddy having a crush on Shannon was just in Mystery Admirer. I just re-read this book and I agree that the title 'copycat' is kind of silly because Karen copying the BSCers wasn't really even a main plot. Maybe its was just to reinforce that you shouldn't copy the things your idols (or step sisters ) do because you would be more likely to repeat their bad mistakes or something, because you are so influenced by what they do. Not saying Karen's going to go spray paint a building any time soon, or that Kristy is a bad person in general. I'm just rambling about this because I read the blurb and it says "What would Karen think of her big sister if she knew the truth?" so it got me thinking.

I kept wondering as I read this, just what prompted Karen to start trying to be so "mature". There had to be some reason, but it isn't explained.

^i think a lot of little girls go through a wanting to be mature phase, especially when they really look up to their big sisters.

And I can just see Karen drawing such a character (when she's being herself again, of course.)

I just read this book for the first time the other day, (found this one and Farewell, Dawn in a thrift store - never read either before, yay!) and I actually liked it a lot more than I thought I would, considering it was a sports book. I would never be able to go through with the hazing that the team made Kristy and the others do, though. I was surprised that Kristy didn't end up telling in the end. I was expecting them to go through with it, be guilty, and tell at the end. I knew that Kristy was on the team in later books, so I kind of assumed that the girls who hazed them were kicked off the team or something, and the others just got into minor trouble, so I was really surprised when they didn't end up telling after all. I also don't get why it was called Kristy and the Copycat; that was the subplot, and because of the blurb on the cover, I was kind of expecting Karen to find out and think that hazing was cool, or something, I don't know. Overall I did like this book! I was pretty surprised when the guy was hurt in the fire. I can't believe that Bea (and the other girl, can't remember her name, not Dilys, but the other other one ) didn't feel worse! I would have felt horrible, myself.

^ Was it Talia or something like that? I don't know if I would have gone through with the hazing at that age or not. I'm inclined to think I would have, just to be "in." If anyone handed me a can of spray paint now and told me to vandalize a building, I'd probably laugh at them.

I was definitely surprised that Kristy decided not to confess in the end. Considering all her conflicted emotions and feeling like an awful person, I thought she would want to wipe the slate entirely clean. Oh well.
Dilys is actually pronounced with the emphasis on the lys (like MELISSa). I thought her writing the notes to all of them was kind of creepy.
I couldn't ignore this Claudia outfit...
Kristy says she looks "excellent." I say she looks like a clown.
Seth is cool for owning/wearing a panama hat.
And this part made me laugh...
