I also liked that Richard complimented the good job Claudia did on Mary Anne's makeup, and said he was sure that Claudia would have a career in makeup artistry or fashion design.

^ Me, too BooBoo. I thought he was the best BSC Dad. I wish he and MA had had more scenes together.

i prefer the original richard (super conservative and quiet) over the richard he was in the later books. i just don't do goofy dads really well.

^ITA Oldhickory. I thought Watson had a lot of potential until he became reduced to going out to Estate Sales every weekend with Elizabeth.

Can anyone shed any light on the thing about the class rings? MA says that in high school Richard hadn't been able to afford a ring for either himself or Sharon. I've never heard of guys buying school rings for the girls.

They usually, at least in the olden days, gave their rings to their girlfriends to wear. So if Richard couldn't afford a ring then Sharon wouldn't be able to wear it. I hope that's what he meant, otherwise Sharon's parents were cheap in addition to being snobs.

I'm surprised Charlie hadn't gotten the Junk Bucket sooner. I assumed he'd been driving that all along.

I am re-reading and realized Mallory was not invited to the wedding! Or at least she wasn't mentioned as being there.
Pages 141-142 Original Cover. I wonder if the second Dawn was supposed to be "Mallory?" On Page 106, when Mary Anne and Dawn are trying to convince their parents to have a wedding, MA promises that she and Dawn will only invite their closest friends. Mal is one of them.

I never noticed that AMM forgot to mention Mallory being there. We certainly know the triplets were there! Another one for the "Ann hates Mal" files.

^Yep. In the next book, Mallory was at the wedding, so maybe she was invited after the fact? However that is the book, Dawn's Wicked Stepsister, of the Pike Plague where Mal has the pox again. Poor Mallory.

If Ann really hated Mallory, she would have given her shingles this time around! LOL Unless it was german measles the first time and they didn't realize.

I really think that note to Kristy was a kiss off! Hey thanks for being my first best friend, but now I'm gonna stick with Dawn. That was really how I took it though prob b/c I don't care for Dawn....
I do love this book though and I kind of feel like this is the beginning of the different feel of the books and the mini grown ups they turn into.

^I'm sorry (but thankful) that you agree with me on that note, Wiggirl. I thought the intent was in the right place and very sweet but maybe because their friendship never did pick up again, the actual note read to me more of a goodbye.

^ Aww, the note thing kind of makes me sad...I love the K/MA friendship.... This was actually a favorite of mine when I was younger...I wish more of the books had a "to be continued" thing to them.
