^ I guess I'm alone but I always was kind of disinterested in the kid kids because they just didn't seem like the kind of thing I would have liked. I'm probably an "Amanda Delaney" ;D but would have been much more interested in showing the girls my "special" toys than playing with theirs.

^ I have a thing about "used" toys too (meaning ones that aren't in the greatest shape) because I was always almost obsessive about keeping my toys "nice" and in good shape. I hated it when other kids came over to play and got rough with my things. I picture the kid kit toys as being pretty beat up, which would probably have upset me because I didn't like seeing "abused" toys ;D

I think very little kids (like five and under) would be excited about the kid-kits because the toys are something new (for them) but I couldn't imagine an eight yr old really caring about it. Although they did bring books, which is probably all that I'd have been interested in. I always wonder though, don't the little kids lose it when the babysitter has to go home and take the toys with her?

I think lots of kids would be interested in them, 'cause of the reason the said in the books: other people's toys seem cooler than yours. Just 'cause they're not yours. But if you did bring over Candyland and they already had Candyland, well, that would suck.
Greer, dirty stuffed animals skeeve me out, too. And dirty My Little Ponies. At yard sales and thrift stores sometimes I'll see toys I would really want if they were in mint condition, but if they're dirty, I don't want to go near them.

I never thought the kids of Stoneybrook would be disappointed with kid kits. These kids are entertained by like, a piece of cardstock and a tube of glitter for hours.

I hated it when other kids came over to play and got rough with my things. I picture the kid kit toys as being pretty beat up, which would probably have upset me because I didn't like seeing "abused" toys ;D Me too! One day in first grade I decided to bring a couple of my Beanie Babies to school (back when they were popular, I had a million of them ;D) and naturally everyone wanted to play with them at recess but after letting everyone play with them, they got all dirty and I was so mad. I never brought any of my toys with me after that day. I also have a problem with "abused" books. I hate reading books with random doodles in them (aka Garage Sale books) and ripped covers and pages, etc. It just drives me crazy. Library books are the worst. I swear people used them as coloring books. I took a copy of Karen's Pen Pal out of my library and someone colored in the illustrations of Karen and Maxie (Karen's pen pal from New York) with crayons. I was so mad, I was like, "Why is it like this!?" I do give whoever colored it props though because the colored pictures match the descriptions in the book.

I hae a thing about dirty toys and ripped books, too, and that's how I picture the kid kit toys. That probably isn't accurate but I always imagine a big moving box with a bunch of decapitated barbies, broken crayons, and ripped up books (all dirty, too ;D) thrown in together. It kind of grosses me out, even now just thinking about it ;D

I'm fanatical about my books! I hate the fact that some of my BSC books aren't in good condition... I hate bent spines and cover creases...

Even now I get worried when I invite a few of my friends over because something often seems to break. When I was 14, they all sat on my top bunk and the bed started to break (it was made out of metal and suddenly started bending)! In a way it was a blessing in disguise because we had wanted to get rid of it but still! Also a few years ago, one of them was messing around with one of my old cuddly toys that made a laughing noise and that broke as well! Now I'm very cautious and when I see anyone messing around with something I try to get it off them subtly... so as you can see these things still happen when you get to your teens!

Oh, yeah, I'm all too familar with toy destruction. In the fourth grade I brought some of my Stacie dolls to school, and I think when I brought them back home every one of their heads was broken off. Geesh, you'd think they'd be a little more careful with someone else's toys....but then again, I did my share of breaking heads off.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who liked to keep my toys "nice" ;D The strange thing is, I would think Charlotte would be like me with liking clean, nice toys but she seems so fascinated with the kid kits (maybe it's because they toys are nice and I'm just imagining them wrong). That might be because it's Stacey's, though. Speaking of Charlotte, was this the book where she was introduced?

Her name was first mentioned in Kristy's Great Idea, but she first appears in Phantom Phone Calls. Stacey is sitting for her and they're terrified when the lights go out, they hear a noise, get freaked out and then it turns out to be Carrot Maybe the BSC's old toys were in fairly good condition... I used to love it when my old babysitters or friends brought some of their games to my house.
