^ Agree. I always enjoy reading about how MA and Dawn met because MA's friends were "absent". I also thought the whole subplot with Jamie was cute since I always like Jamie. Loved the Jenny parts, too. She's another one of my favorites.

This is one of my favorite BSC books, I love reading about how Mary Anne and Dawn met (I felt bad when she walked to school and was eating lunch alone that first day after the fight) and I found the fight to be hilarious; a classic middle school fight. I laughed when at the end of the book, they all forgot who was mad at who and then they all decided to apologize at the exact same time lol. I felt sooo bad for Jamie when the BSC girls were fighting at his birthday party (although the part where Mary Anne keeps intentionally pouring punch all over Kristy's clothes is hilarious, she deserved it after getting David Michael to slam the door in Mary Anne's face).

^ I had forgotten about Kristy getting DM to slam the door on Mary Anne. That was the one thing I didn't like about the fight (even though I think it was pretty realistic) how the girls kind of put the little kids in the middle. A lot of the older kids at the horse shows used to get me in the middle of their fights when I was a kid and it would get me really upset, which is probably why this bothers me in the books. I think my favorite part of this book is reading about how MA takes care of Jenny. This one still gets my heart beating fast no matter how many times I read it because it reminds me of the time my little cousin had a very high fever and stopped breathing from it and had to be rushed to the hospital. As awful as this sounds, I had always kind of wished I'd been the one to "save the day" like MA. Of course, I never got the chance for any big rescues ;D

^ Agree about the little kids getting in the middle, that was not fair. It's amazing how job hogging never really came up again!

Well after this book it seems like either only one sitter is available for EVERY job, or someone has tonssss of homework so they offer it to sitter #2, or it's an obvious "kristy you take this" cause it's for the Papadakis kids or something (or vice versa - Kristy and Dawn, for example, are available for the Newtons, so Kristy gives it to Dawn so she doesn't have to get a ride).
Pretty convenient.

I was thinking it did but could be wrong and might be thinking about this one from different rereads that were too close together and not careful enough ;D

^ I had forgotten about Kristy getting DM to slam the door on Mary Anne. I hated that scene. I'm no fan of MA, but I wanted to smack Kristy when I read that. What a b*tch. And what's more, you missed out on making TEN WHOLE DOLLARS! ;D

MA and Dawn must have been happy in the Graphic Novel getting 50 dollars! ;D

^ Now that would make me VERY happy ;D I do wish they wouldn't have changed anything about the books in the graphic versions, though. But $10 never seemed like a big deal to me, even back when the book was first published.

I haven't read that GN yet either but $50 does seem like quite a lot for EACH of them to get. Dawn didn't really even do anything...also they all kinda act like Jenny was on her death bed or something. Wasn't it strep?

I thought $10 was a lot back in the day, but I grew up without an allowance, so I didn't have a very good sense of how much money actually WAS a lot until I got older.

I was strep, which isn't life threatening or anything but can be pretty bad. (At least I think it was strep. I'm not positive), but I always got the impression that the fever was the big deal. And from what I rembember, it was 104 and Jenny was pretty listless before MA called Dawn and the ambulance. High fevers can be really scary and sometimes dangerous, especially for little kids. Also, how long did the girls stay at the hospital? If they were there for a while, maybe some of the $ was for extra baby-sitting hours??? (I know baby-sitters actually make pretty good money these days, even kids. Maybe I should give it a try ;D)
