I haven't reread yet but now I'm intrigued by the bath thing. I am still finding lots of different reasons that she might have asked but tend to be the kind of person who asks permission when I don't need to, too ;D I won't say any more about it until I have more facts to support me. ;D

OK, baking soda baths are even easier! I can see why Mal might have asked, thinking it would be considerate to give Claudia a heads-up as to where she was going to be, but yeah, I can't really think of a good reason for Claudia to say no. Maybe Claudia once did that experiment with baking soda and vinegar in school and was afraid Mallory would blow up the house? ;D

maybe there is some sort of thing where it is bad for you to bathe too often in baking soda when you have the chicken pox? i dunno. or maybe she wanted mal on hand as an emergency baby-sitter.

You can do baking soda or oatmeal baths every few hours, as long as the water isn't too hot and you don't stay in too long (and are drinking fluids the rest of the time, so you don't get dehydrated). I think some pedetricians actually recommend every 3-4 hours.

^Heh. I have a very Mallory-like habit of recording really random pieces of information on the assumption they might be useful or funny to write about some day. Of course, I think this might be gradually killing some other, more practical part of my brain, so that I have zero sense of direction, and every night I have to tape a note for myself on the bathroom mirror of all the errands I have to do the next day . At least I've never put my shoes in the freezer yet.

Maybe too much information is what happened to Sharon ;D Was this the book where Tigger threw up? I really felt for Sharon with that and she handled it much better than I would have.

yeah it is when Tigger threw up. I didn't feel bad for Sharon I mean no one wants to watch a cat barf, but he's a little kitten...and sometimes they barf. I highly doubt it was like, spewing all over the walls and whatnot. I mean she can't get mad at Tigger or MA for the kitten throwing up...

When it comes to the arguments, both Mary Anne and Dawn were in the wrong many times, but overall I'd have to side with Mary Anne. I agree that Mary Anne was being bitchy about Dawn not having a boyfriend, but Mary Anne was the one who had to move out of the house that she had lived in all her life, while Dawn got to stay in her crappy farmhouse that would burn down in the last book, so she would lose all of her stuff. Dawn got pissy over MA catching her Mum's bouquet, complained about MA being moody (she was leaving her house!), forced MA to share a room with her and then scared the hell out of her to make her move out so she wouldn't have to admit that she was wrong, fought with MA over the Perkins sitting job which she should have let MA take because they used to live next door to each other, etc... Dawn's very argumentative.

It's hilarious when you read that because it seriously pops up out of NOWHERE and it's like d**n, Mary Anne! But I always thought these girls are supposed to be above that kind of insult. I mean, they are the kind who don't judge people based on appearances, aren't they? Although there was the "Ethel" incident in SS3... Also, realistically, would Dawn and Mary Anne really be able to share clothes that often? I mean, Mary Anne is short and Dawn is tall, so was MA's skirt some kind of super micro-mini on Dawn??

^ Agree about the sharing clothes. That comment was one of the only things that made me take Dawn's side in this one because in my opinion, a comment like that (about weight, looks, anything like that) is one of the lowest insults a person can give. I'm probably just extra-sensitive about this but I always thought that was mean of MA to say and that she just said it to be hurtful.

Dawn didn't FORCE Mary Anne to share a room with her. I'm pretty sure they decided together it would be super fun.
Never thought about their different clothing sizes, but you're right hitzpink, I would imagine MAs clothes would be too small for Dawn. And Dawn is always described as thin, so that comment from MA really came from left field.

^ Agree. That's why I think it was just the most hurtful thing she could think of (and I think it was pretty effective). Also agree about sharing the room. I always have trouble siding with either MA or Dawn in this one as they both seem at fault for different things. But I do tend to side a bit more with MA, especially after Dawn and Jeff gang up on her.

"when you have a boyfriend you want to look your best for him" was meaner and stupider, i think.

^ Another low one, agree. It probably also depends on what you are personally most sensitive too. I actually think this one was probably worse for Dawn (though the looks one would have been personally worse for me, especially since I never minded not having a boyfriend) Both girls got pretty petty in this one, I thought. Who did the club members side with or didn't they take sides? I can't remember but think it would have been logical for Kristy at least to side with MA.
