I can see that. But if I were Janine, I would still be a little miffed about the "my Claudia" thing.
As a kid I always thought Janine was the mean one! But upon re-reading it, I agree the book should be called Janine and Mean Claudia.

In all honesty, I was horrific when I was 13...And would ragged on Janine senseless. I would have done so to Claudia also.

^I don't know anyone that wasn't at least a little bratty when they were 13. Was this the book where Claudia thought she caused Mimi's health problems? Feeling guilty probably raised her bitchiness a notch or two.
This was also the book where they held a summer camp for like $3 a day. Worst business women ever. They could have made a fortune.

Just re-read this, and I have to say the part where Claudia raises her hand to hit Janine just shocks me!! That would NEVER appear in a later book and even in this one it seems so OFF. Janine didn't even do anything and Claudia's about to smack her while Jamie Newton stares on in disbelief. Geesh, poor Jamie Newton, he's always being subjected to BSC temper tantrums.

^No crap. Didn't they ruin his birthday party in Mary Anne Saves The Day?

Hah, Jamie had a lot of traumatizing experiences. In addition to those, he was subjected to the cigarette burn babysitter. He witnessed what he thought was Mary Anne dying in a pool of blood. Halloween! I'm sure there's more. He'll probably need therapy.

LOL I forgot about when he thinks MA died. That is so hilarious. Poor thing.

I'm rereading this now. I love the part where Jenny thinks Andrew is a monster and he scares her into wearing the smock for play group. Then she won't take it off at home and Mrs. P gets upset.

I actually didn't like the Jenny/Andrew thing. I can't imagine Andrew being the least bit scary, if I was Jenny I think I would've just kicked him.

I don't remember this part. What happens? I think Andrew can be scary but I mean that in a different way than Jenny was afraid of him No, he's not really scary - just a little whiner. Sorry, I don't care for him after reading LS books in which he seems to constantly get Karen in trouble. But I do love Jenny even though she is a brat This is part of her "charm".

^I think Karen tells all the kids that Andrew's a monster, and Jenny believes her.

^Yeah. That's what happens. And I think Kristy told Andrew to tell Jenny to put the smock on after that.

Yeah Jenny won't put her smock on cause she's so obsessed with her new dress or something, but then she becomes convinced that Andrew is a monster (seriously I know she's only 3 - or is she 4?! - but STILL!) so when Andrew like, growls at her and tells her to put it on, she gets scared and does. Andrew just does not seem the least bit scary at all.
