I didn't see a thread for this book. What do you guys think of it? I actually kind of liked it. I must've read it a LOT as a kid, cause everything came flooding back, especially the bit about Jessi and Becca wanting their parents to put in a swimming pool I mean how pointless would that be? It'd be sooo expensive, considering their house is already built (and assuming they'd get an in-ground pool) and honestly how many months of use would it get? I live in Arizona, so tons of people have pools in their backyards, but we also get like, 7 months of use out of them. Anyway, another instance of a BSC member totally and randomly kicking ass at something - Jessi and Elise win their event. Although, they did acknowledge that they were practicing a lot more than the other girls, but still... I remember as a kid being super interested in syncho after this, I remember taking swim lessons and watching the girls in the synchro class practice and thinking it was super cool. The Mini-olympics was lame.

This is one of the ones I wish I could forget. It just seems so pointless in every way possible.

I grew up in PA, which is basically the same climate as CT and I knew a ton of kids who had inground pools, myself included. It gets so humid in the Northeast that it is absolutely disgusting and from June to August everyone who has a pool thanks their lucky stars that someone had the foresight to install one.
That being said, this book inspired me to be a huge dork and attempt synchronized swimming on my own. But now this book is really boring to me.

I hate this book more than Jessi's wish, actually. Probably because it was abuot sport, which I hate to read about, see, hear about or practice - except maybe watching the olympics or soccer or something. Anyway, boring!! Stupid!! And why did they win??

Aw, I liked this book. It's probably one of my favourite Jessi ones, actually. I liked that we got to see how hard she worked, and not just trying something new and being perfect straight away, and I liked the obstacle course race between Kristy and Alan, and I thought the Mini Olympics was cute.

This is one of the ones I wish I could forget. It just seems so pointless in every way possible. Word. Like most Jessi books, I was just bored stupid. Plus I'm also not a sports fan, so that was another downside for me.

It kind of bored me because in Mallory and the Dream Horse, Mallory takes up a new sport and then quits it, and then I had to read the same thing over again in the very next book. I know Jessi didn't quit synchro because she was afraid of water or anything, but they still seemed too similar to me to be right next to one another in the series.

^ I noticed that as well. I much preferred Mallory and the Dream Horse, though. Mallory is much more interesting than Jessi.

^ That never occured to me.
In 53 as well, Kristy dropped her presidentiary campaign as well, so that was kinda the same theme for 3 books, just not all sport.

I liked the part where Alan has to be the slave at the mini olympics and even felt a bit bad for him. This book had a bit much description of the synchronized swimming for me but maybe that is just because I am not into that. My friend in MI did have an inground pool so I don't find that so farfetched. The sprinkler in the back yard worked fine for me though Of course, today either one sounds really good since it is in the 90s with a heat index of 100. Thank goodness for the a/c. I don't do hot (or cold) weather very well. In all, this book was a little boring to me but I read it quickly and didn't mind it much - especially the stuff with Alan who I usually like in his scenes with Kristy, anyway.

Funnily enough, so did I... Alan wasn't all bad, really. Just a bit mischevious.

I just remembered a part I thought was funny.
One of Jessi's parents: I'm sorry but we can't afford to get a pool. Becca: Ask your boss to give you more money.

^LOL yeah and the parents start cracking up.
I felt bad for Alan too when he had to be Kristy's slave. I was expecting her to be like "oh, you've suffered enough, you can stop now" like a nice little BSC girl, but nope.
But also, I do hate Alan and find him annoying.

Actually I was kinda expecting that too. I guess if it was anyone but Kristy the dictator b*tch!
