for me this book had a lot of underlying lesbianism (or maybe i'm overthinking it.) it wasn't just the fact that kristy hated shopping. more like how claudia seemed like she was asking kristy on a date, or how kristy and shannon decided to go to the dance together (not as a group, which would make sense to me, but just two people) and danced together and everything. and the way kristy kept saying "claudia deserves better, the boys are jerks, etc." i know it's because i'm older and read into situations more than younger girls would, but the writers are even older than me so i'm sure they picked up on it too.
also, how many dances does kristy have to save? soon nobody will invite her to their parties because they know she will do something embarrassing like dancing alone in the middle of the room.

I liked the pranks that Tiffany and Maria played on Shannon. I thought that Shannon handled the pranks really well. I liked reading the shopping trip and the double date between Kristy and Claudia. I didn't like Kristy's date, as well as not liking Mark.

I loved when Kristy put on the "Happy Dogs" tape and grabbed Alan for a dance. I wish the two of them had lasted afterward, at least as friends. I also wish Tiffany had pointed out to Kristy that like her (T), Jessi is 11 and obviously has had boyfriends. I haven't gotten to the end yet so don't remember if Jessi took a date. The only odd thing I noticed was at the SAKDC meetings there never was (or even at the dance) any representatives from Kelsey Elementary School. I know there was only one high school (SHS), but since there was Kelsey Middle School, I'm assuming they also had an elementary one as well. That just seemed odd though it was probably just Ellen Miles not wanting to take the time to introduce more new characters.

I think they have the best name. It would have been so sweet had Louie ever "danced" to one of their songs, instead of just "howled" at "Brother Louie."

For some reason I read hot dogs not happy dogs! Hahaha - well I guess that sounds better.
I love the scenes from the dances b/c it was so true back then. Boys on one side girls on the other and no one wanting to dance.
I don't really like Mark either and I wish Kristy had just come out and told that guy - not in a million years!

I remember getting this in October 1997 at Zellers (a Canadian department store)... and I also remember it being around the same time as Fright Night. Maybe I got them at the same time? *goes to check publishing date*...
... I was right! I looked and they were published around the same time. Go me. I impress myself with my BSC knowledge. It's weird because a lot of my visual BSC moments involve when I saw the book on the shelf bookstore and my memories of buying it or something.
Anyway, to the book... I like this one. I remember it pretty well. I have a lot of memories of having this book at my grandma's house too (where I didn't keep a lot of BSC books) so it was by itself. I like reading about the Kilbournes and Shannon.
I thought it was interesting how this book was spawned out of a title. Kristy and the Sister War title came first, then the book came second. I guess the writers had to think which family of "sisters" could be disfunctional and which was the best sitter to narrate that book. I guess Dawn and MA were already covered (Wicked Stepsister) plus Dawn moved to California by this time. Abby would have been a good choice although she just had a book (Bad Sport).

I don't know why but I always assumed Stoneybrook academy students eventually went to Kelsey since SA only went up to the fifth grade I think. Anywho I really enjoyed this book and thought Shannon handled her sisters pranks really well. If my sister did that to me I'd be getting back at her.

SA was private, though. A lot of SA kids probably ended up at SDS or the Miller School that the Cheplins went to, or even SMS if they didn't live in Watson's neighborhood. It is strange we never heard about another elementary school, though.

Man, is this the shortest book thread we have? Only 2 pages!
The snickerdoodles part stood out to me, because Tiffany and Maria say that snickerdoodles have walnuts and raisins in them. Snickerdoodles are a regular in my family's kitchen every Christmastime, and I've never heard of anyone putting any nuts or raisins or any other additions in the cookies in any recipe I've seen. Anyone else?

I don't know what a snickerdoodle actually is (beyond a cookie-thing). Maybe their's is a family recipe.

Speaking of not knowing, I still don't know what scooter pies are, and why they're not allowed at the little house
Off topic, but I was in disbelief back then that neither house had a nintendo or other game console system aside from Nancy. I didn't know anyone without a NES, SNES or gameboy back in those days, if not a sega genesis

Scooter pies remind me of "smiley pies" off of Problem Child.

In Europe they're Choco pies.
