^ Actually, I never thought she seemed lonely since she always is going to visit friends and isn't she good friends with Mr. Majors? But I guess people can be around others and still feel lonely. Maybe that is how Aunt C feels. Hang on a sec...isn't Mr. Majors the guy that Stacey's dad is friends with on Fire Island in "Stacey's Lie?" The one he uses as an excuse when he's just going to see Samatha? I wonder if they're the same person?

^ ;D Never thought of that. Maybe but probably another example of an overused name - I wonder if his first name is John??? ;D And I'll bet he's a lawyer ;D

I was thinking about that whole, "Your a better baby sitter then me" line of Aunt C. Wasn't she a parent?! If so, thats got to be bull! How can any parent think an eleven year be a better baby sitter? More fun, maybe, but not better!

^ Although I'd have to admit that Jessi is a better baby-sitter than Mr. Nicholls from #117 would be.

^ Agree. ;D Or than a lot of parents I know - grandparents too. I wouldn't trust a lot of them at all.

Yeah that was really weird, especially since Aunt Cecelia has a son, Michael so of course she's more experienced than Jessi!

I think we were supposed to root for Jessi in this book, we were supposed to agree that Aunt Cecelia was a pain in the ass and that Jessi had every right to feel indignant when her parents had organised a babysitter for her at the ripe old age of eleven. Agree about Aunt Cecelia being a pain in the ass. Jessi having the right to be mad because she still has to be baby-sat at "the ripe old age of 11 (lol)" I do not agree with.

^ Yet another book that makes me imagine Jessi is at least 15. ;D That's how I deal with the whole 11/13 thing because there are so many things that I don't like with those being the ages. Macca, maybe Aunt C is a bigger person than we give her credit for with admitting her insecurity. It did seem out of character for her, though.

I just reread this one.
HAHA I so agree. I love that Jessi brings that up, and also near the end when Aunt C delivers, in Jessi's words, another "low blow" about it.
Her list about the mean things to do to Aunt C were just weird. Tie her to a chair? wtf?
I sort of loved that Charlotte was playing Duran Duran to one of the plants in her experiment ;D
I feel so sorry for poor Jackie, especially when Jessi was freaking out about him spelling his sign wrong. She was like, "After all the studying we've done, you should know how to spell the words 'volcanic' and 'activity'!" Geez. I liked that he wanted to call his project "My Volcano."
Oh and there was this:
Oh, my lord. Jessi, you are not an adult.

I agree that Aunt C coming out and telling Jessi that she made her insecure was ridiculous, but maybe she felt that Jessi was more knowledgeable about modern child rearing!

I don't think Aunt C was as much of a dinosaur as she was made out to be. I'm sure we decided on her age somewhere on the board. 50-ish? Child raising doesn't change that much over the years.
After reading Babysitters Remember for the first time, I understand this one even less. Auntie lived on the same block as the rest of the family and saw how Jessi and the others were being raised from day to day. Maybe she freaked out because now she had actual neighbors instead of relatives.
I stole Charlotte's experiment for a 7th grade science project I had to do. I even used her results rather than conduct the experiment myself. I got a good grade too, so thanks Charlotte! ;D

^You didn't have to provide your own empirical data or bring the plants in? Lucky. We always had to bring in "proof"
