^ in that scenario, Jessi should've either phoned her mother (despite the fact that she "didn't want to bother her at work") or simply disobeyed Cecelia. She was happy to put shaving cream in her slippers and honey in her hairbrush, I'm sure if she was worried about pissing off her parents, she'd already done more than enough in that regard.

^ If the BSC members are such responsible little people that they are even entrusted to take care of toddlers then wouldn't one of the members have enough sense to tell her parents about a problem and nip it in the bud right away? But then again, there would not have been enough pages of a story to tell.

Awww, she was undermining the 11 yr old babysitter's authority. Disgraceful. Ahahaha! Aunt C not letting her go to the meeting annoyed me too, I so would have just gone! I loved how the BSC kept calling Jessi to show how important she was... haha.

^ I had forgotten about that but liked it, too ;D I like it when the girls do other things to make each other feel special or important. Wish I would have had great friends like that (which might be why I like reading BSC books now to feel like "part" of the club ;D) I'll bet the calls drove Aunt C insane - serves her right ;D She was very annoying in this book and I think it gave me a bad impression of her for the rest of the series.

I think Aunt C was an old prune. She didn't win any brownie points with me. (What's up with all the food sayings?... ah, well, I'm hungry)
I like reading the BSC because I feel like part of the club as well. It was always so easy for me to get sucked in.

I don't like Aunt C at all either. Even later when she allegedly starts to "come around" she just seems like a crotchety old woman who wants to make everyone else as miserable as her. She just doesn't have a nice disposition at all, even when she's BEING nice. I don't remember the girls calling Jessi to make her seem important, that is actually really hilarious. Esp cause Jessi is probably one of the busiest BSCers and I would imagine works a lot less than the other girls.

I actually like Aunt C in Big Break when I can maybe start to see some of her motives for being the way she is but in books like this one and Happy Holidays, I really feel for Jessi and Becca. I think she would be such a pain to live with. As for the girls calling Jessi, I always like it when Kristy does things like this instead of trying to act super-"professional" at the meetings.

Yeah, seeing Kristy break free... haha. I do feel bad for Aunt C, she seems very lonely to me.

^ Actually, I never thought she seemed lonely since she always is going to visit friends and isn't she good friends with Mr. Majors? But I guess people can be around others and still feel lonely. Maybe that is how Aunt C feels.

I've read about her on several occasions. I understand her wanting to look out for them, but did she have to be such a grouch?

I don't feel sorry for her. I also apparently hold grudges because I don't accept that being nice in one book = turn around for Aunt C. haha I feel mean now.

I am with you actually. Most of the time it's hard for a character who changes to change my opinion of them!

^ Same for me. Or sometimes I get an impression of a character for no good reason and it sticks with me. I tend to associate characters with people I know in real life, too, which doesn't always help. I don't associate Aunt C with anyone that I know of but don't like her just based on her behavior in this book. Was this the subplot when Jessi helps with the volcano for the science fair? I can really relate to her accidently taking over a project like that. When I tutored and gave riding lessons, it was always hard for me to not just grab the book away from the kid and do it myself or to want to yank them off the pony and ride myself. It was like "why can you not get this?" I guess there are some people who are not cut out to be teachers ;D I did get over this, though, when I stopped caring if the kid actually did well. That doesn't sound nice but I don't mean that I didn't care - just stopped being "competitive" about it.

Oh, I am so the same. When I was tutoring my brother in English and SOSE (History), I'm like "Why don't I just re-word your assignment..." Haha.
