Oh I totally forgot about "think again, buckaroo!" That was adorable. Suzi always seems like such a cute little girl to me.

Okay, so pretty much half this book was "OMG, Mallory's tired, what the heck is wrong with her, poor Mallory...blah blah blah, she is tired ALL THE TIME......So why is it, in the preview for Get Well Soon, Mallory (or whatever) at the end of Jessi and the Bad Babysitter, Mallory tells Jessi she's really tired, and Jessi says, "That's strange. Are you sick or something?"
WTF? WHAT DID WE JUST GO THROUGH?!

^ Yeah that is really odd. But I guess at the end of Bad Babysitter, Mallory was feeling much better and everyone assumed she had just had a virus fighting her system. Maybe more time has passed than we thought. This time warp still scares me to this day, too many Halloweens!!!!

^ When did this one supposedly take place? If it's a Halloween one, I'll have to reread soon.

So, I just read this book, and I had to dig around for a while to find the thread. I read this one once when I was a kid (got it from the library) and hadn't read in years, so it was kind of like a first time. I think this is one with a really bad title. Wendy wasn't a bad baby-sitter, she was a bad BSC member. Jessi specifies several times that Wendy is really good with the kids. She made a few good points about not really knowing the rules of the club. Kristy, in all her organization, should have known that meetings were hectic and found another time to talk to/interview Wendy. I'm glad that Wendy didn't begrudge Jessi for the bad experience and they were able to still be friends.
As for the subplot, the zorbs are hilarious. I think the whole thing was really cute, how they brought Snow White and Captain Planet together and made the story into something that Dawn would appreciate. I thought Buddy calling Marilyn kissing him "cheek pollution" absolutely hilarious.
I didn't care for the Margo shoplifting storyline. It kind of bored me.
Random inconsistency, Shannon says she can fill in for Dawn until she gets back, because by then it'll be spring and she'll be ready for outdoor stuff and going to camp in the summer. But, um... Dawn comes back at Christmas.

I really liked this book. I loved the whole 'Snow White and the Seven Zorbs' play, I thought it was so cute, and loved reading about them going shopping for and acting out the play. Kristy pissed me off. No, Wendy should not have been late for her babysitting jobs, or a meeting (though I can see why she might turn up a little late to a meeting - she might have, as someone said previously, just thought it was like a bunch of friends hanging out. She didn't know Kristy and how dictator-like she was ;D). However, if I can remember correctly, someone calls asking for a sitter later that day, right? And OMG, heaven forbid Wendy's first thought NOT be to call the other members of the BSC, who never even met the kid(s) before. Argh. I was also glad that Wendy and Jessi remained friends in the end, and thought it was nice how Wendy said she would like to live in California, and Jessi said 'one good friend in California is enough!" because it showed both her friendship with Dawn and Wendy And I agree, lionessblack, this title was very misleading. Wendy wasn't a bad babysitter at all. I remember reading it for the first time and getting done and being like, huh? She wasn't a bad babysitter! It was just that she was a different kind of babysitter than the BSC girls, that's all.

The BSC really take stuff to extremes! Wendy was not a bad babysitter, Lou wasn't the worst kid ever, and the Barretts weren't impossible.
I felt so bad for Wendy in this book. Yeah, she should have told Jessi about her being late, but heaven forbid she shows up late to a meeting too! I wanted to punch Kristy throughout this entire book, with Mallory frail and weak in front of her, she orders her to get a doctor and tacks on a "Yeah, I don't want to sound mean..." then her first complaint about it all is "GREAT! Now we're TWO sitters short!" And the fact that she's all paranoid that their clients are going to start calling other people? Does the BSC have a monopoly on all sitting jobs in Stoneybrook?
I also didn't know whether to laugh or WTF at her grabbing the phone away when Dawn called and seriously ordering her to return to CT. I'm surprised, with how obedient the BSC is, that Dawn didn't buy a plane ticket right away. Oh wait...she does that for another reason in a few books heh.
I did like the Zorbs plot, I liked reading about them shopping at the party store. I love party supply stores, they're so fun to browse in!
And I'm surprised Wendy turned up later on instead of the other plot devices never showing up again (Dawn's recycling center, the Zuni pen pals...though I think they were mentioned in passing later on). I was wondering if she was driven out of Stoneybrook for daring to defy the BSC and was in exile in RI, like Anne Hutchinson.

^LoL to the Anne Hutchinson comparison.
I am always so surprised when the BSC whines about being too busy. I don't know why they don't just take on more associate members -- if they really and truly had no one who could sit, I'm sure that Sam or Charlie would take a job or two. It was mentioned before that they used to take turns watching David Micheal, and I highly doubt that any of the clients would have a huge issue with it. They are getting a sitter, aren't they? Especially the old time sitters like Mrs Newton or Mrs Pike. I wouldn't even be surprised to hear that the elder Thomas' children used to sit for those kids before the BSC. And there is also always Janine down the hall, or Abby's sister.
Just because they don't come to a meeting doesn't mean they can't sit. The purpose of the club still exists -- the clients call one number and are guaranteed a sitter.

PennyLane, ITA with your post from 2 years ago. What I want to know is what did Dawn do to help find another Sitter before she moved? That was what she promised in the previous book. Also, it sounded like the BSC had been swamped even before Dawn made her choice, so shouldn't the issue of finding another member come up earlier? I remember in Logan Likes Mary Anne, Logan telling MA that he knew a few guys who might like to be Associates--whatever happened to that idea? We know at least Gordon Brown (from Claudia and the Bad Joke and Memory Garden) baby-sat at times as did probably Bart of his younger brother Kyle. I can understand (especially for the many Ghosties) adding to the regular Sitter list might be hard to keep track of (we know how well they remember details as it is at times ) But surely a few more Associate Members would have been plausible. The Shillabers, Barbara Hirsch, Amelia Freeman before she passed away, any of them could have lended the BSC a hand.

^In Karen's Baby-sitter, the BSC refer Karen's mom to Bart when none of them can take a regular sitting job for Karen and Andrew.
