What always baffled me was how did all the kids know what traveling medicine shows were when they were thinking of how to sell their stuff? Like yeah, I saw that growing up in a Simpsons episode, but I didn't know what it was called!

My first thought was that guy from The Wizard of Oz, but I think he was just a fortune teller.

I'm pretty sure one of the kids mentions traveling medicine shows by name. It's come up before either on another blog or the snark community on LJ. The triplets' rap about their item was funny though

I've never had pneumonia. Is it an illness that requires such strict round-the-clock care that someone needs to come at midnight because even a few hours alone could be dangerous?
When I hear "traveling medicine show" I think of essential oil MLMs selling door to door.

I think if it suddenly worsens, it can get very dangerous. I probably would want round the clock care for my mom too.

I had pneumonia quite a few times as a kid. I had asthma, and colds would go straight to my lungs. My mom said I had a collapsed lung once, but I have no recollection of that. In one instance she kicked my dad out of their bed and made me sleep with her so that she could monitor my breathing all night. She is super paranoid about a lot of things, though.
Brittany Murphy's death was very mysterious, but the official cause was listed as pneumonia.
