BTW, Raina just posted on the BSC LJ that the book is definitely real and it was Ann's idea. Yay!! Yay! All this new info on the book has me excited. Has been a highlight in a pretty blah week

I just got this reply from Raina: (Me) I second that Australia, lol, but I'm in Brisbane. So exciting about the book... I wonder if Ann and co know how big the BSC online fandom is?! Their reply was: I think she has an idea...and if she doesn't, I promise you the people at Scholastic know. Yay

Makes you wonder if some of those scholastic people lurk on our board.

If so...hi, people from Scholastic! ;D
Is it weird that I'm really looking forward to seeing the cover art?

Photo or painting, I wonder? I thought the photos from FF were pretty good (at least the girls looked about their age) but it would be tough to find people that look like younger versions of those girls. A regular painting like the original BSC books is tough too, they've been done so many different ways and all. I wouldn't mind if they let Raina design it and have it be cartoons as long as they had more details than the Graphix books did (like an actual background). I really like her work, and they've been using that style on the newest BSC books in France and I think they look super cute. What I would definitely not want to see is some vague photo cover that doesn't feature anyone. Like the cover of A Corner of the Universe or Snail Mail No More. Those are OK for those books, but this BSC book needs something special, especially if we're shelling out $17 plus shipping for it!

Those are OK for those books, but this BSC book needs something special, especially if we're shelling out $17 plus shipping for it! I think it all depends on who they want to buy the book. I can see them doing something like this or this if they want to appeal to a YA crowd. If they're looking for a younger crowd, maybe to appeal to a new generation of BSC fans, then they might go with an illustrated cover, or a cover similar to the FF books. But that's just my opinion!

Fluffycakes, I was thinking of the Ann Brashares books too. I'm guessing we'll get a very simple cover.

I REALLY want to see illustrations of the girls. Another thing: Do you think there might be pictures INSIDE? I know it's probably not likely...but......... I want something if there isn't any on the front cover!

I wonder if it will be written in true BSC style- first person narration and super special layout?

I hope it isn't any sort of diary form. My eyes will be permanently crossed if I have to read too much from Claudia. BUT if there is any handwritten stuff they better use the proper fonts.

I would like it best if there were illustrations of the girls on the cover. I'd like paintings best, but cartoony or photographs would be okay. Even that dumb style with photos of half of people's faces, or just their torsos, would be better than a cover with no people on it at all! It's not that I dislike all book covers without characters on them, it's just that it would be WRONG to have a BSC book in particular like that.
